1 Corinthians 1
1 Paul, called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother,2 unto the church of God which is at Corinth, even them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that call upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ in every place, their Lord and ours:3 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.4 I thank my God always concerning you, for the grace of God which was given you in Christ Jesus;5 that in everything ye were enriched in him, in all utterance and all knowledge;6 even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you:7 so that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ;8 who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye be unreproveable in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.9 God is faithful, through whom ye were called into the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.10 Now I beseech you, brethren, through the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfected together in the same mind and in the same judgment.11 For it hath been signified unto me concerning you, my brethren, by them that are of the household of Chloe, that there are contentions among you.12 Now this I mean, that each one of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos: and I of Cephas; and I of Christ.13 Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized into the name of Paul?14 I thank God that I baptized none of you, save Crispus and Gaius;15 lest any man should say that ye were baptized into my name.16 And I baptized also the household of Stephanas: besides, I know not whether I baptized any other.17 For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not in wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made void.18 For the word of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us who are saved it is the power of God.19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, And the discernment of the discerning will I bring to nought.
20 Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?21 For seeing that in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom knew not God, it was God’s good pleasure through the foolishness of the preaching to save them that believe.22 Seeing that Jews ask for signs, and Greeks seek after wisdom:23 but we preach Christ crucified, unto Jews a stumblingblock, and unto Gentiles foolishness;24 but unto them that are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.26 For behold your calling, brethren, that not many wise after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:27 but God chose the foolish things of the world, that he might put to shame them that are wise; and God chose the weak things of the world, that he might put to shame the things that are strong;28 and the base things of the world, and the things that are despised, did God choose, yea and the things that are not, that he might bring to nought the things that are:29 that no flesh should glory before God.30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who was made unto us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption:31 that, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

1 Pablo, elegido por designio de Dios para ser apóstol de Cristo Jesús, y el hermano Sóstenest,t 2 a la Iglesia de Dios reunida en Corinto*. A ustedes que, consagradost por Cristo Jesús, han sido elegidos por Dios para ser su pueblo, junto con todos los que en cualquier lugar invocan el nombre de Jesucristo, Señor suyo y nuestro.t
3 Que Dios, nuestro Padre, y Jesucristo, el Señor, les concedan gracia y paz.tAcción de gracias
4 Doy gracias sin cesar a mi Dios por ustedes ya que les ha otorgado su gracia mediante Jesucristo 5 y los ha enriquecido sobremanera con toda clase de dones, tanto en lo que se refiere al conocer como al hablar. 6 Y de tal manera se ha consolidado en ustedes el mensaje de Cristo, 7 que de ningún don carecen mientras están a la espera de que nuestro Señor Jesucristo se manifiestet.t 8 Él será quien los mantenga firmes hasta el fin, para que nadie tenga de qué acusarlos el día de nuestro Señor Jesucristot.

10 Pero tengo algo que pedirles, hermanos, y lo hago en nombre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo: que haya concordia entre ustedes. Destierren cuanto signifique división y recuperen la armonía pensando y sintiendo lo mismo.t 11 Digo esto, hermanos míos, porque los de Cloet me han informado de que hay divisiones entre ustedes. 12 Me refiero a eso que anda diciendo cada uno de ustedes: “Yo pertenezco a Pablo”, “yo a Apolo”*, “yo a Pedro”t, “yo a Cristo”. 13 Pero bueno, ¿es que Cristo está dividido? ¿Ha sido crucificado Pablo por ustedes o han sido bautizados en su nombre? 14 ¡Es como para dar gracias a Dios el no haber bautizado entre ustedes más que a Crispo y a Gayo!t 15 Así nadie puede presumir de haber quedado vinculado a mí por el bautismo. 16 Bueno, también bauticé a la familia de Estéfanas; fuera de estos, no recuerdo haber bautizado a ningún otro.t
17 Es que Cristo no me envió a bautizar, sino a proclamar el mensaje evangélico. Y a proclamarlo sin alardes de humana elocuencia, para que no quede anulada la eficacia de la cruz de Cristo.tCristo crucificado, poder y sabiduría de Dios
18 El lenguaje de la cruz es, ciertamente, un absurdo para los que van por sendas de perdición; mas para nosotros, los que estamos en camino de salvación, es poder de Dios.t
19 Lo dice la Escritura: Destruiré la sabiduría de los sabios y haré fracasar la inteligencia de los inteligentes.t
20 ¿Quién se atreverá a presumir de sabio, de maestro o de investigador de este mundo? ¿No ha demostrado Dios que la sabiduría de este mundo es pura necedad?t 21 En efecto, el mundo con su sabiduría sobre Dios no ha llegado a conocer a Dios a través de esa sabiduría. Por eso, Dios ha decidido salvar a los creyentes a través de un mensaje que parece absurdo.t 22 Porque mientras los judíos piden milagros y los griegos buscan sabiduríat,t 23 nosotros anunciamos a Cristo crucificado, que para los judíos es una piedra en que tropiezan y para los paganos es cosa de locos. 24 Pero para los que Dios ha elegido, sean judíos o griegos, ese Cristo es poder y sabiduría de Dios,t 25 pues lo que en Dios parece absurdo es mucho más sabio que lo humano, y lo que en Dios parece débil es más fuerte que lo humano.t 26 Basta, hermanos, con que se fijen en cómo se ha realizado su propia elección: no abundan entre ustedes los que el mundot considera sabios, poderosos o aristócratas.t 27 Al contrario, Dios ha escogido lo que el mundo tiene por necio, para poner en ridículo a los que se creen sabios; ha escogido lo que el mundo tiene por débil, para poner en ridículo a los que se creen fuertes; 28 ha escogido lo sin importancia según el mundo, lo despreciable, lo que nada cuenta, para anular a quienes piensan que son algo. 29 De este modo, ningún mortal podrá alardear de algo ante Diost 30 que a ustedes los ha injertado en Cristo Jesús, convertido para nosotros en sabiduría divina, en fuerza salvadorat, santificadora y liberadora. 31 Así que, como dice la Escritura, si de algo hay que presumir, que sea de lo que ha hecho el Señor.t
