2 Chronicles 36

1 Then the people of the land took Jehoahaz the son of Josiah, and made him king in his father’s stead in Jerusalem.2 Joahaz was twenty and three years old when he began to reign; and he reigned three months in Jerusalem.3 And the king of Egypt deposed him at Jerusalem, and fined the land a hundred talents of silver and a talent of gold.4 And the king of Egypt made Eliakim his brother king over Judah and Jerusalem, and changed his name to Jehoiakim. And Neco took Joahaz his brother, and carried him to Egypt.5 Jehoiakim was twenty and five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem: and he did that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah his God.6 Against him came up Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and bound him in fetters, to carry him to Babylon.7 Nebuchadnezzar also carried of the vessels of the house of Jehovah to Babylon, and put them in his temple at Babylon.8 Now the rest of the acts of Jehoiakim, and his abominations which he did, and that which was found in him, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah: and Jehoiachin his son reigned in his stead.9 Jehoiachin was eight years old when he began to reign; and he reigned three months and ten days in Jerusalem: and he did that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah.10 And at the return of the year king Nebuchadnezzar sent, and brought him to Babylon, with the goodly vessels of the house of Jehovah, and made Zedekiah his brother king over Judah and Jerusalem.11 Zedekiah was twenty and one years old when he began to reign; and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem:12 and he did that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah his God; he humbled not himself before Jeremiah the prophet speaking from the mouth of Jehovah.13 And he also rebelled against king Nebuchadnezzar, who had made him swear by God: but he stiffened his neck, and hardened his heart against turning unto Jehovah, the God of Israel.14 Moreover all the chiefs of the priests, and the people, trespassed very greatly after all the abominations of the nations; and they polluted the house of Jehovah which he had hallowed in Jerusalem.15 And Jehovah, the God of their fathers, sent to them by his messengers, rising up early and sending, because he had compassion on his people, and on his dwelling-place:16 but they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and scoffed at his prophets, until the wrath of Jehovah arose against his people, till there was no remedy.17 Therefore he brought upon them the king of the Chaldeans, who slew their young men with the sword in the house of their sanctuary, and had no compassion upon young man or virgin, old man or hoary-headed: he gave them all into his hand.18 And all the vessels of the house of God, great and small, and the treasures of the house of Jehovah, and the treasures of the king, and of his princes, all these he brought to Babylon.19 And they burnt the house of God, and brake down the wall of Jerusalem, and burnt all the palaces thereof with fire, and destroyed all the goodly vessels thereof.20 And them that had escaped from the sword carried he away to Babylon; and they were servants to him and his sons until the reign of the kingdom of Persia:21 to fulfil the word of Jehovah by the mouth of Jeremiah, until the land had enjoyed its sabbaths: for as long as it lay desolate it kept sabbath, to fulfil threescore and ten years.22 Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of Jehovah by the mouth of Jeremiah might be accomplished, Jehovah stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, so that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying,23 Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia, All the kingdoms of the earth hath Jehovah, the God of heaven, given me; and he hath charged me to build him a house in Jerusalem, which is in Judah. Whosoever there is among you of all his people, Jehovah his God be with him, and let him go up.

Reinado y destronamiento de Joacaz

1 Entonces el pueblo de la tierra tomó a Joacaz hijo de Josías y lo proclamó rey en lugar de su padre en Jerusalén.2 Veintitrés años tenía Joacaz cuando comenzó a reinar, y tres meses reinó en Jerusalén.3 El rey de Egipto lo destituyó en Jerusalén, e impuso al país un tributo de cien talentos de plata y uno de oro.

4 Luego proclamó el rey de Egipto a Eliaquim, hermano de Joacaz, como rey de Judá y Jerusalén, y le cambió el nombre por el de Joacim. Y a Joacaz, su hermano, lo tomó Necao y lo llevó a Egipto.

Reinado de Joacim

5 Cuando comenzó a reinar Joacim tenía veinticinco años, y reinó once años en Jerusalén; e hizo lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová, su Dios.6 Subió contra él Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia, y lo llevó a Babilonia atado con cadenas.

7 También llevó Nabucodonosor a Babilonia parte de los utensilios de la casa de Jehová, y los puso en su templo en Babilonia.

8 Los demás hechos de Joacim, las abominaciones que hizo, y lo que en él se halló, está escrito en el libro de los reyes de Israel y de Judá. Reinó en su lugar su hijo Joaquín.

Joaquín, deportado a Babilonia

9 Ocho años tenía Joaquín cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó tres meses y diez días en Jerusalén; e hizo lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová.

10 Al cabo de un año el rey Nabucodonosor mandó que lo llevaran a Babilonia, juntamente con los objetos preciosos de la casa de Jehová, y puso a Sedequías,, su hermano, como rey sobre Judá y Jerusalén.

Reinado de Sedequías

11 Veintiún años tenía Sedequías cuando comenzó a reinar, y once años reinó en Jerusalén.12 Hizo lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová, su Dios, y no se humilló delante del profeta Jeremías, que le hablaba de parte de Jehová.

13 Se rebeló asimismo contra Nabucodonosor, al cual había jurado fidelidad delante de Dios. Fue obstinado y se empeñó en no volverse a Jehová, el Dios de Israel.
14 También todos los principales sacerdotes y el pueblo aumentaron la iniquidad, siguiendo todas las abominaciones de las naciones y contaminando la casa de Jehová, la cual él había santificado en Jerusalén.15 Jehová, el Dios de sus padres, les envió constantemente avisos por medio de sus mensajeros, porque él tenía misericordia de su pueblo y de su morada.

16 Pero ellos se mofaban de los mensajeros de Dios, y menospreciaban sus palabras, burlándose de sus profetas, hasta que subió la ira de Jehová contra su pueblo, y no hubo ya remedio.

Cautividad de Judá

17 Por lo cual trajo contra ellos al rey de los caldeos, que mató a espada a sus jóvenes en la casa de su santuario, sin perdonar joven ni virgen, anciano ni decrépito; todos los entregó en sus manos.18 Asimismo todos los utensilios de la casa de Dios, grandes y chicos, los tesoros de la casa de Jehová, y los tesoros de la casa del rey y de sus príncipes, todo lo llevó a Babilonia.

19 Quemaron la casa de Dios y derribaron el muro de Jerusalén, prendieron fuego a todos sus palacios y destruyeron todos sus objetos de valor.
20 A los que escaparon de la espada los llevó cautivos a Babilonia, donde fueron siervos de él y de sus hijos hasta que vino el reino de los persas;

21 para que se cumpliera la palabra de Jehová, dada por boca de Jeremías, hasta que la tierra hubo gozado de reposo; porque todo el tiempo de su asolamiento reposó, hasta que los setenta años fueron cumplidos.

El decreto de Ciro

22 En el primer año de Ciro, rey de los persas, para que se cumpliera la palabra de Jehová, dada por boca de Jeremías, Jehová despertó el espíritu de Ciro, rey de los persas, el cual hizo pregonar de palabra y también por escrito, por todo su reino, este decreto:23 «Así dice Ciro, rey de los persas: Jehová, el Dios de los cielos, me ha dado todos los reinos de la tierra, y me ha mandado que le edifique Casa en Jerusalén, que está en Judá. Quien de entre vosotros pertenezca a su pueblo, que sea Jehová, su Dios, con él, y suba allá.»
