Welcome Home

Welcome Home: "You First, How we treat one Another"

Do you ever struggle with how you treat one another, Do you ever go from this great evening to thinking selfishly and causing bickkering with my wife. and i take a defense posture

When we think of ourselves in isolation we take a defensive posture towards other and God. We do this cause we don't want to be proved wrong by God or Family.

Phil 2: 1-4 "Work together, be humble and take a interest in other"

Our sinner nature cause a spiritual battle between the self and family. Our sin nature cuases us to want to protect and meet the needs of self. This is also seen in our culture, when was the last time we saw a commerical that shared the value of humilty and selflessness. The author is trying to fight the culture of his time and our time. Being me centered is not only for the world be we find it in the church. Example would be finding a church that feed me, what programs are for what service do they have for me, me, me, me, me.

When it comes to Jesus it is to focus on Christ. The beginning and the end, the personhood. Jesus is a person, not a position. we find this in the church in program centered and not person centered. This model excluded differences and distroies relationships in the church and family. But it is in our differences that we exemplify Jesus and the family that he created. Jesus showed us how to be humble and selfless with examples like the footwashing- Mark 10:24. Jesus considered those men better them himself (better then the Son of God). But we find in Psalms 103:14 that we are dust. this is very counter-cultural. The only importance that we have is have the breath of God in us.

We are called to serve, selfless love and sacrific. Who is the judas in our life and how can we wash their feet?
