News travels doesn't it? It is traveling over from the Israelites to the philistines, that there is revival brewing!
When they gathered at Mizpah, they drew water and poured it out in the Lord's presence. They fasted that day, and there they confessed, "We have sinned against the Lord." And Samuel judged the Israelites at Mizpah. (1 Samuel 7:6 HCSB)
Wouldn't you like to be a mouse in the philistine territory when they get wind of this?
"what? They're meeting at Mizpah?
You know what that means? Something's going on! What are they up to? What will that God of theirs do to us? We gotta stop this NOW'"
When the Philistines heard that the Israelites had gathered at Mizpah, their rulers marched up toward Israel. When the Israelites heard [about it], they were afraid because of the Philistines. (1 Samuel 7:7 HCSB)
Doesn't it seem like every time you commit to do something right, Satan gets right on it!
He doesn't want us to have victory. He doesn't want us to have power from God!
And he's working through the Philistines to get to the Israelites!!
The Israelites said to Samuel, "Don't stop crying out to the Lord our God for us, so that He will save us from the hand of the Philistines." (1 Samuel 7:8 HCSB)
The Israelites are scared. Maybe God won't accept their plea for forgiveness! But Samuel intercedes on their behalf!
Then Samuel took a young lamb and offered it as a whole burnt offering to the Lord. He cried out to the Lord on behalf of Israel, and the Lord answered him.
Samuel was offering the burnt offering as the Philistines drew near to fight against Israel. The Lord thundered loudly against the Philistines that day and threw them into such confusion that they fled before Israel. (1 Samuel 7:9, 10 HCSB)
It pays to have a good leader doesn't it? A leader that loves God and prays to Him!
Don't you think it's what we need to look for in our leaders nowadays? Forget about the other stuff... If our leaders love God and pray about what to do.. The other things will work out! I
But we worry about the economy, and money ...money...money! That is our priority instead of seeking a man with morals that will do the right thing! A man that will ask God to lead the country, not throw Him out if it!
A man that worships one God-not just any God!
Samuels advice was to get rid of the idols...throw out the other gods! Get serious about God! Repent...turn your hearts to Him!
Samuel told them, "If you are returning to the Lord with all your heart, get rid of the foreign gods and the Ashtoreths that are among you, dedicate yourselves to the Lord, and worship only Him. Then He will rescue you from the hand of the Philistines." (1 Samuel 7:3 HCSB)
If we're going to wage war against Satan and his demon army, we have to get serious about God! We can't have 1 foot in the church and 1 in the world. Satan knows when we're 'uncommitted'...half living for the Lord, when were Ineffective christians! Thats right where he wants us!
Forget the political garble that you hear on TV...if you want change...
When you're ready to get serious about God, you'll see change!
