"Show and Tell"

Think back to when you were a young child and your teacher told you that tomorrow is "show and tell" day. It didn't take long for you decide what to bring because you were passionate about it and couldn't wait to tell your teacher and classmates!

In Ezra 7:10, we read about a Biblical "show and tell." As a person in a position of leadership and in the public eye, the way Ezra lived his life (his "show") had the power to either bolster or hamper his message to others (his "tell"), especially as it related to His relationship with God. An obvious component of "show and tell" is that you can't tell others about something that you do not possess yourself! I can imagine Ezra coaching himself, "First, I'll showthem how I am living a God honoring life. Then, I'll tellthem how they can do it too."

Does our "show" match our "tell"? Let us as Christians follow the model of Ezra. Let's dig into the Word and do what it says! Then, like a mentor, come alongside people and teach them how to live for God. We may not be in the public eye on a state or national level like a governor or the President, but we have the eyes of family, friends, and coworkers watching our lives daily. The Gospel message is powerful and the people in our lives need to hear it, so let us ensure our lives reflect the love and grace we've been shown by God.

A line from the song "We Told 'Em" by Trip Lee (a Christian rap artist) speaks of this need for Biblical "show and tell":
"If we gon' get 'em for the Lord, then we need to get on one accord. We told 'em we Christians, now let's show 'em we Christians."
