From Temptation to Death
James 1:13-15 NIV84
When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; but each one is tempted when, by his own evil desire, he is dragged away and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full‑grown, gives birth to death.
Definition of Enticed
Enticed: deleazo (del-eh-ad'-zo); to entrap, allure, entice, HOOK.
Flee From It
1 Corinthians 6:18-20 NIV84
Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body. Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.
Definition of Flee
Flee: pheugo (fyoo'-go); to run away; to shun; to escape, to DISTANCE oneself.
Not Even a Hint
Ephesians 5:3 NIV84
But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God's holy people.
Better Places to Draw the Line
DRESS for spiritual success. Keep FOUR feet on the floor. No SLEEPOVERS or playing HOUSE. No tonsil HOCKEY. Avoid dangerous PLACES. Monitor INTERNET activity. Avoid time alone with the WRONG people. Guard your EYES, mind, and HEART.
Offer Your Body to God
Romans 6:12-14 NIV84
Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. Do not offer the parts of your body to sin, as instruments of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God, as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer the parts of your body to him as instruments of righteousness. For sin shall not be your master, because you are not under law, but under grace.
Talk It Over
Which points on the list of “better places to draw the line” stood out to you? Where will you draw a new line from now on? Get honest with the area where you’re closest to the line. What will you do to put margin between you and what tempts you most? What moral lines need to move to protect you in other areas besides sexual sin? How will you put distance between you and temptation?
