1 Timothy 4
1 But the Spirit saith expressly, that in later times some shall fall away from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of demons,2 through the hypocrisy of men that speak lies, branded in their own conscience as with a hot iron;3 forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by them that believe and know the truth.4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be rejected, if it be received with thanksgiving:5 for it is sanctified through the word of God and prayer.6 If thou put the brethren in mind of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Christ Jesus, nourished in the words of the faith, and of the good doctrine which thou hast followed until now:7 but refuse profane and old wives’ fables. And exercise thyself unto godliness:8 for bodily exercise is profitable for a little; but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life which now is, and of that which is to come.9 Faithful is the saying, and worthy of all acceptation.10 For to this end we labor and strive, because we have our hope set on the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of them that believe.11 These things command and teach.12 Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an ensample to them that believe, in word, in manner of life, in love, in faith, in purity.13 Till I come, give heed to reading, to exhortation, to teaching.14 Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.15 Be diligent in these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy progress may be manifest unto all.16 Take heed to thyself, and to thy teaching. Continue in these things; for in doing this thou shalt save both thyself and them that hear thee.

Ceux qui enseignent de fausses doctrines
1 L’Esprit le dit clairement : dans les derniers temps, certains abandonneront la foi pour suivre des esprits trompeurs et des enseignements inspirés par les démonst. 2 Ils se laisseront égarer par des gens hypocrites et menteurs, à la conscience marquée au fer rouget. 3 Ces gens-là enseignent qu’on ne doit pas se marier ni manger certains aliments. Mais Dieu a créé ces aliments pour que les croyants, qui connaissent la vérité, les prennent en priant pour le remercier. 4 Tout ce que Dieu a créé est bont ; rien n’est à rejeter, mais il faut tout accueillir en remerciant Dieu,
5 car la parole de Dieu et la prière rendent chaque chose agréable à Dieu.Un bon serviteur de Jésus-Christ
6 Si tu donnes ces instructions aux frères, tu seras un bon serviteur de Jésus-Christ, tu montreras que tu es nourri des paroles de la foi et du véritable enseignement que tu as suivi. 7 Mais rejette les légendes stupides et contraires à la foi. Exerce-toi à vivre dans l’attachement à Dieu. 8 Les exercices physiques sont utiles, mais à peu de chose ; l’attachement à Dieu, au contraire, est utile à tout, car il nous assure la vie présente et nous promet la vie future. 9 C’est là une parole certaine, digne d’être accueillie par tous.
10 En effet, si nous peinons et luttonst, c’est parce que nous avons mis notre espérance dans le Dieu vivant qui est le Sauveur de tous les humains, et surtout de ceux qui croient.
11 Recommande et enseigne tout cela. 12 Que personne ne te méprise parce que tu es jeune ; mais sois un exemple pour les croyants, dans tes paroles, ta conduite, ton amour, ta foi et ta pureté. 13 En attendant que je vienne, applique-toi à lire publiquement l’Écrituret, à exhorter et à enseigner. 14 Ne néglige pas le don spirituel que tu possèdes, celui qui t’a été accordé lorsque les prophètes ont parlé et que les anciens ont posé les mains sur toi. 15 Applique-toi à tout cela, donne-toi entièrement à ta tâche. Alors tous verront tes progrès. 16 Prends garde à toi-même et à ton enseignement. Demeure ferme à cet égard. En effet, si tu agis ainsi, tu sauveras aussi bien toi-même que ceux qui t’écoutent.
