Deuteronomy 14
1 Ye are the children of Jehovah your God: ye shall not cut yourselves, nor make any baldness between your eyes for the dead.2 For thou art a holy people unto Jehovah thy God, and Jehovah hath chosen thee to be a people for his own possession, above all peoples that are upon the face of the earth.
3 Thou shalt not eat any abominable thing.4 These are the beasts which ye may eat: the ox, the sheep, and the goat,5 the hart, and the gazelle, and the roebuck, and the wild goat, and the pygarg, and the antelope, and the chamois.6 And every beast that parteth the hoof, and hath the hoof cloven in two, and cheweth the cud, among the beasts, that may ye eat.7 Nevertheless these ye shall not eat of them that chew the cud, or of them that have the hoof cloven: the camel, and the hare, and the coney; because they chew the cud but part not the hoof, they are unclean unto you.8 And the swine, because he parteth the hoof but cheweth not the cud, he is unclean unto you: of their flesh ye shall not eat, and their carcasses ye shall not touch.
9 These ye may eat of all that are in the waters: whatsoever hath fins and scales may ye eat;10 and whatsoever hath not fins and scales ye shall not eat; it is unclean unto you.
11 Of all clean birds ye may eat.12 But these are they of which ye shall not eat: the eagle, and the gier-eagle, and the ospray,13 and the glede, and the falcon, and the kite after its kind,14 and every raven after its kind,15 and the ostrich, and the night-hawk, and the sea-mew, and the hawk after its kind,16 the little owl, and the great owl, and the horned owl,17 and the pelican, and the vulture, and the cormorant,18 and the stork, and the heron after its kind, and the hoopoe, and the bat.19 And all winged creeping things are unclean unto you: they shall not be eaten.20 Of all clean birds ye may eat.
21 Ye shall not eat of anything that dieth of itself: thou mayest give it unto the sojourner that is within thy gates, that he may eat it; or thou mayest sell it unto a foreigner: for thou art a holy people unto Jehovah thy God. Thou shalt not boil a kid in its mother’s milk.
22 Thou shalt surely tithe all the increase of thy seed, that which cometh forth from the field year by year.23 And thou shalt eat before Jehovah thy God, in the place which he shall choose, to cause his name to dwell there, the tithe of thy grain, of thy new wine, and of thine oil, and the firstlings of thy herd and of thy flock; that thou mayest learn to fear Jehovah thy God always.24 And if the way be too long for thee, so that thou art not able to carry it, because the place is too far from thee, which Jehovah thy God shall choose, to set his name there, when Jehovah thy God shall bless thee;25 then shalt thou turn it into money, and bind up the money in thy hand, and shalt go unto the place which Jehovah thy God shall choose:26 and thou shalt bestow the money for whatsoever thy soul desireth, for oxen, or for sheep, or for wine, or for strong drink, or for whatsoever thy soul asketh of thee; and thou shalt eat there before Jehovah thy God, and thou shalt rejoice, thou and thy household.27 And the Levite that is within thy gates, thou shalt not forsake him; for he hath no portion nor inheritance with thee.
28 At the end of every three years thou shalt bring forth all the tithe of thine increase in the same year, and shalt lay it up within thy gates:29 and the Levite, because he hath no portion nor inheritance with thee, and the sojourner, and the fatherless, and the widow, that are within thy gates, shall come, and shall eat and be satisfied; that Jehovah thy God may bless thee in all the work of thy hand which thou doest.

1 Vous êtes les enfants du Seigneur votre Dieu ! Alors, en cas de deuil, ne vous faites pas d’entailles sur le corps, et ne rasez pas vos cheveux sur le devant de la têtet.
2 Vous êtes en effet un peuple qui appartient en propre au Seigneur votre Dieu. C’est vous qu’il a choisis, parmi tous les autres peuples de la terre, pour être son bien le plus précieuxt.Viandes autorisées et interdites
3 Vous ne devez mangert aucune nourriture que le Seigneur considère comme impure. 4 Voici une liste de bêtes que vous pouvez manger : le bœuf, le mouton, la chèvre, 5 le cerf, la gazelle, le daim, le bouquetin, le mouflon, l’antilope, la chèvre sauvage 6 et toutes les autres bêtes qui ont des sabots fendus et qui ruminent. 7 Mais vous ne devez pas manger ceux qui ont seulement des sabots fendus ou qui ruminent seulement ; ainsi vous considérerez comme impurs les animaux suivants : le chameau, le lièvre et le damant, car ils ruminent, mais n’ont pas de sabots,
8 ainsi que le porc, car il a des sabots, mais il ne rumine pas. Ne consommez pas la viande de ces animaux-là et ne touchez même pas leurs cadavres.
9 Parmi les animaux vivant dans l’eau, vous pouvez manger ceux qui ont à la fois des nageoires et des écailles.
10 Mais vous ne devez pas manger ceux qui n’ont pas de nageoires ou pas d’écailles : considérez-les comme impurs.
11 Vous pouvez manger des oiseaux purs. 12 Mais voici une liste d’oiseaux que vous ne devez pas manger : les aigles, les gypaètes, les aigles marins, 13 les milans, les vautours, les diverses espèces de faucons 14 et de corbeaux, 15 les autruchest, les chouettes, les mouettes, les diverses espèces d’éperviers, 16 les hiboux, les hulottes, les effraies, 17 les chouettes chevêches, les charognards, les cormorans,
18 les cigognes, les diverses espèces de hérons, les huppes et les chauves-souris.
19 Considérez comme impurs tous les insectes ailés ; on ne doit pas en manger.
20 Toutefois, vous pouvez manger les insectes qui sont purst.
21 Ne consommez pas la viande d’un animal qui a crevé. Donnez-la à manger aux étrangers qui résident chez vous, ou vendez-la à d’autres étrangers. Vous en effet, vous êtes un peuple qui appartient en propre au Seigneur votre Dieu. Vous ne ferez pas cuire un chevreau dans le lait de sa mèret.Règles concernant la dîme
22 Chaque année, vous mettrez de côté une partie de toutes vos récoltes. 23 Vous irez ensuite au sanctuaire du Seigneur votre Dieu, dans le lieu qu’il aura choisi pour y manifester sa présence, et c’est là que vous consommerez cette part de votre blé, de votre vin et de votre huile, ainsi que les premiers-nés de vos troupeaux de bœufs, de moutons et de chèvrest. Vous apprendrez ainsi à respecter pour toujours le Seigneur votre Dieu. 24 Quand le Seigneur votre Dieu vous accordera d’abondantes récoltes, vous ne pourrez peut-être pas transporter ce que vous avez mis de côté jusqu’au lieu qu’il aura choisi pour y manifester sa présence, parce que la route sera trop longue. 25 Si c’est le cas, vous vendrez ces réserves et vous apporterez l’argent au sanctuaire du Seigneur votre Dieu. 26 Là, vous achèterez tout ce dont vous aurez envie, bœufs, moutons ou chèvres, vin ou autres boissons alcooliques, et en présence du Seigneur votre Dieu vous les consommerez joyeusement avec vos familles.
27 Dans ces occasions-là, ne négligez pas les lévites qui demeurent dans votre ville, car ils ne possèdent pas de part de territoire au milieu de vous.
28 Tous les trois ans, vous mettrez de côté la part de récolte de l’année en cours et vous l’entreposerez dans vos villes. 29 Les lévites, qui ne possèdent pas de territoire au milieu de vous, pourront venir s’y ravitailler, ainsi que les étrangers, les orphelins et les veuves qui vivent parmi vous. Ils y trouveront de quoi se rassasier. Alors le Seigneur votre Dieu vous bénira dans tout ce que vous entreprendrez.
