Leviticus 18

1 And Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying,2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, I am Jehovah your God.3 After the doings of the land of Egypt, wherein ye dwelt, shall ye not do: and after the doings of the land of Canaan, whither I bring you, shall ye not do; neither shall ye walk in their statutes.4 Mine ordinances shall ye do, and my statutes shall ye keep, to walk therein: I am Jehovah your God.5 Ye shall therefore keep my statutes, and mine ordinances; which if a man do, he shall live in them: I am Jehovah.

6 None of you shall approach to any that are near of kin to him, to uncover their nakedness: I am Jehovah.7 The nakedness of thy father, even the nakedness of thy mother, shalt thou not uncover: she is thy mother; thou shalt not uncover her nakedness.8 The nakedness of thy father’s wife shalt thou not uncover: it is thy father’s nakedness.9 The nakedness of thy sister, the daughter of thy father, or the daughter of thy mother, whether born at home, or born abroad, even their nakedness thou shalt not uncover.10 The nakedness of thy son’s daughter, or of thy daughter’s daughter, even their nakedness thou shalt not uncover: for theirs is thine own nakedness.11 The nakedness of thy father’s wife’s daughter, begotten of thy father, she is thy sister, thou shalt not uncover her nakedness.12 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy father’s sister: she is thy father’s near kinswoman.13 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy mother’s sister: for she is thy mother’s near kinswoman.14 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy father’s brother, thou shalt not approach to his wife: she is thine aunt.15 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy daughter-in-law: she is thy son’s wife; thou shalt not uncover her nakedness.16 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy brother’s wife: it is thy brother’s nakedness.17 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of a woman and her daughter; thou shalt not take her son’s daughter, or her daughter’s daughter, to uncover her nakedness; they are near kinswomen: it is wickedness.18 And thou shalt not take a wife to her sister, to be a rival to her, to uncover her nakedness, besides the other in her life-time.

19 And thou shalt not approach unto a woman to uncover her nakedness, as long as she is impure by her uncleanness.20 And thou shalt not lie carnally with thy neighbor’s wife, to defile thyself with her.21 And thou shalt not give any of thy seed to make them pass through the fire to Molech; neither shalt thou profane the name of thy God: I am Jehovah.22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.23 And thou shalt not lie with any beast to defile thyself therewith; neither shall any woman stand before a beast, to lie down thereto: it is confusion.

24 Defile not ye yourselves in any of these things: for in all these the nations are defiled which I cast out from before you;25 And the land is defiled: therefore I do visit the iniquity thereof upon it, and the land vomiteth out her inhabitants.26 Ye therefore shall keep my statutes and mine ordinances, and shall not do any of these abominations; neither the home-born, nor the stranger that sojourneth among you;27 (for all these abominations have the men of the land done, that were before you, and the land is defiled);28 that the land vomit not you out also, when ye defile it, as it vomited out the nation that was before you.29 For whosoever shall do any of these abominations, even the souls that do them shall be cut off from among their people.30 Therefore shall ye keep my charge, that ye practise not any of these abominable customs, which were practised before you, and that ye defile not yourselves therein: I am Jehovah your God.

Lévitique 18

Les unions sexuelles illicites

1 L’Eternel s’adressa à Moïse en ces termes:

2 —Parle aux Israélites et dis-leur: Je suis l’Eternel, votre Dieu.

3 Vous n’agirez pas à l’exemple de ce qui se fait en Egypte, où vous avez habité, ni de ce qui se fait au pays de Canaan où je vous conduis. Vous ne suivrez pas les coutumes de ces pays.

4 Vous obéirez à mes lois et vous observerez mes ordonnances, vous les appliquerez. Je suis l’Eternel votre Dieu.

5 Vous obéirez à mes ordonnances et à mes lois; l’homme qui les appliquera vivra grâce à cela. Je suis l’Eternel.

6 Aucun d’entre vous n’aura de relations sexuelles avec une proche parente. Je suis l’Eternel.

7 Tu ne porteras pas atteinte à ton père en ayant des relations sexuelles avec ta mère. Puisque c’est ta mère, tu ne lui porteras pas atteinte.

8 Tu n’en auras pas non plus avec une autre femme de ton père, ce serait porter atteinte à ton père.

9 Tu n’auras pas non plus de relations sexuelles avec ta sœur ou ta demi-sœur, fille de ton père ou fille de ta mère, née dans la maison ou au dehors.

10 Tu n’auras pas de relations sexuelles avec la fille de ton fils ou de ta fille; tu te porterais atteinte à toi-même.

11 Tu n’auras pas de relations sexuelles avec la fille d’une autre femme de ton père si c’est la fille de ton père, car elle est ta sœur.

12 Tu n’auras pas de relations sexuelles avec la sœur de ton père; elle est une proche parente de ton père;

13 ni avec la sœur de ta mère, car c’est la proche parente de ta mère.

14 Tu ne porteras pas atteinte au frère de ton père en t’approchant de son épouse, car elle est ta tante.

15 Tu n’auras pas de relations sexuelles avec ta belle-fille; c’est la femme de ton fils, tu ne lui porteras pas atteinte.

16 Tu n’auras pas non plus de relations sexuelles avec la femme de ton frère; car à travers elle, c’est à ton frère que tu porterais atteinte.

17 Tu n’auras pas de relations sexuelles à la fois avec une femme et sa fille; tu n’épouseras ni la fille de son fils, ni celle de sa fille, car elles sont ses proches parentes et ce serait une infamie.

18 Tu ne prendras pas pour autre épouse la sœur de ta femme, car tu provoquerais des rivalités entre elles en ayant des relations avec la sœur, tant que ta femme est en vie.

19 Tu n’auras pas de relations sexuelles avec une femme pendant que ses règles la rendent impure.

20 Tu ne coucheras pas avec la femme de ton prochain pour te rendre impur avec elle.

21 Tu ne livreras pas l’un de tes enfants pour les sacrifices à *Molok, car tu ne déshonoreras pas ton Dieu. Je suis l’Eternel.

22 Tu ne coucheras pas avec un homme comme on couche avec une femme; c’est une abomination.

23 Tu n’auras pas de rapports sexuels avec une bête pour te rendre impur avec elle. Une femme n’ira pas s’accoupler avec un animal; c’est une dépravation.

24 Ne vous rendez pas impurs par une de ces pratiques; c’est en s’y adonnant que les nations que je vais déposséder en votre faveur se rendent impures.

25 Le pays entier a été souillé, et je vais intervenir pour punir sa faute, et le pays vomira ses habitants.

26 Vous, au contraire, vous obéirez à mes lois et à mes ordonnances et vous ne commettrez aucun de ces actes abominables, ni l’autochtone, ni l’étranger qui réside au milieu de vous.

27 Car toutes ces abominations ont été commises par les hommes du pays qui y ont séjourné avant vous, et le pays en a été souillé.

28 Craignez donc qu’il ne vous vomisse, vous aussi, si vous le souillez, comme il va vomir la nation qui vous a précédés.

29 Car tous ceux qui commettront l’un ou l’autre de ces actes abominables seront retranchés de leur peuple.

30 Vous obéirez donc à mes commandements, et vous ne suivrez aucune des coutumes abominables que l’on pratiquait avant vous; vous ne vous rendrez pas impurs par elles. Je suis l’Eternel, votre Dieu.
