Leviticus 22

1 And Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying,2 Speak unto Aaron and to his sons, that they separate themselves from the holy things of the children of Israel, which they hallow unto me, and that they profane not my holy name: I am Jehovah.3 Say unto them, Whosoever he be of all your seed throughout your generations, that approacheth unto the holy things, which the children of Israel hallow unto Jehovah, having his uncleanness upon him, that soul shall be cut off from before me: I am Jehovah.4 What man soever of the seed of Aaron is a leper, or hath an issue; he shall not eat of the holy things, until he be clean. And whoso toucheth anything that is unclean by the dead, or a man whose seed goeth from him;5 or whosoever toucheth any creeping thing, whereby he may be made unclean, or a man of whom he may take uncleanness, whatsoever uncleanness he hath;6 the soul that toucheth any such shall be unclean until the even, and shall not eat of the holy things, unless he bathe his flesh in water.7 And when the sun is down, he shall be clean; and afterward he shall eat of the holy things, because it is his bread.8 That which dieth of itself, or is torn of beasts, he shall not eat, to defile himself therewith: I am Jehovah.9 They shall therefore keep my charge, lest they bear sin for it, and die therein, if they profane it: I am Jehovah who sanctifieth them.

10 There shall no stranger eat of the holy thing: a sojourner of the priest’s, or a hired servant, shall not eat of the holy thing.11 But if a priest buy any soul, the purchase of his money, he shall eat of it; and such as are born in his house, they shall eat of his bread.12 And if a priest’s daughter be married unto a stranger, she shall not eat of the heave-offering of the holy things.13 But if a priest’s daughter be a widow, or divorced, and have no child, and be returned unto her father’s house, as in her youth, she shall eat of her father’s bread: but there shall no stranger eat thereof.14 And if a man eat of the holy thing unwittingly, then he shall put the fifth part thereof unto it, and shall give unto the priest the holy thing.15 And they shall not profane the holy things of the children of Israel, which they offer unto Jehovah,16 and so cause them to bear the iniquity that bringeth guilt, when they eat their holy things: for I am Jehovah who sanctifieth them.

17 And Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying,18 Speak unto Aaron, and to his sons, and unto all the children of Israel, and say unto them, Whosoever he be of the house of Israel, or of the sojourners in Israel, that offereth his oblation, whether it be any of their vows, or any of their freewill-offerings, which they offer unto Jehovah for a burnt-offering;19 that ye may be accepted, ye shall offer a male without blemish, of the bullocks, of the sheep, or of the goats.20 But whatsoever hath a blemish, that shall ye not offer: for it shall not be acceptable for you.21 And whosoever offereth a sacrifice of peace-offerings unto Jehovah to accomplish a vow, or for a freewill-offering, of the herd or of the flock, it shall be perfect to be accepted; there shall be no blemish therein.22 Blind, or broken, or maimed, or having a wen, or scurvy, or scabbed, ye shall not offer these unto Jehovah, nor make an offering by fire of them upon the altar unto Jehovah.23 Either a bullock or a lamb that hath anything superfluous or lacking in his parts, that mayest thou offer for a freewill-offering; but for a vow it shall not be accepted.24 That which hath its stones bruised, or crushed, or broken, or cut, ye shall not offer unto Jehovah; neither shall ye do thus in your land.25 Neither from the hand of a foreigner shall ye offer the bread of your God of any of these; because their corruption is in them, there is a blemish in them: they shall not be accepted for you.

26 And Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying,27 When a bullock, or a sheep, or a goat, is brought forth, then it shall be seven days under the dam; and from the eighth day and thenceforth it shall be accepted for the oblation of an offering made by fire unto Jehovah.28 And whether it be cow or ewe, ye shall not kill it and its young both in one day.29 And when ye sacrifice a sacrifice of thanksgiving unto Jehovah, ye shall sacrifice it that ye may be accepted.30 On the same day it shall be eaten; ye shall leave none of it until the morning: I am Jehovah.31 Therefore shall ye keep my commandments, and do them: I am Jehovah.32 And ye shall not profane my holy name; but I will be hallowed among the children of Israel: I am Jehovah who halloweth you,33 who brought you out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: I am Jehovah.

La loi sur les offrandes saintes

Ceux qui peuvent y avoir part

1 L’Eternel s’adressa à Moïse en ces termes:

2 —Instruis Aaron et ses fils des cas où ils doivent se tenir à l’écart des offrandes saintes des Israélites, afin de ne pas profaner ma sainteté au travers des choses qu’ils me consacrent. Je suis l’Eternel.

3 Dis-leur: A l’avenir et pour toutes les générations futures, si l’un de vos descendants s’approche en état d’impureté rituelle des offrandes saintes que les Israélites m’ont consacrées, il sera exclu de ma présence. Je suis l’Eternel.

4 Aucun descendant d’Aaron atteint d’une maladie de la peau à caractère évolutif ou d’une gonorrhée ne mangera sa part des offrandes saintes jusqu’à ce qu’il soit en état de pureté. La même règle s’appliquera à celui qui aura touché ce qui a été rendu impur par le contact d’un cadavre, à celui qui aura des pertes séminales,

5 qui aura touché quelque bestiole qui se meut à ras de terre et de nature à le rendre impur, ou une personne dont le contact rend impur, quelle que soit l’impureté.

6 Celui qui aura eu de tels contacts restera en état d’impureté jusqu’au soir et il ne mangera pas d’offrandes saintes sans s’être lavé à l’eau.

7 Après le coucher du soleil, il sera pur, et alors seulement il pourra manger des offrandes saintes, car c’est sa nourriture.

8 Il ne doit pas manger de bête crevée ou déchirée par une bête sauvage, cela le rendrait impur. Je suis l’Eternel.

9 Tous les prêtres devront observer mes prescriptions pour ne pas se charger d’une faute et mourir pour avoir commis en cela une profanation. Moi, l’Eternel, je les rends saints.

10 Aucun profane ne mangera d’une offrande sainte; même pas l’hôte d’un prêtre ou son serviteur salarié.

11 Par contre, si une personne a été acquise à prix d’argent par un prêtre, ou si elle est née dans sa maison, elle pourra partager sa nourriture.

12 Une fille de prêtre mariée à un homme d’une autre tribu ne pourra plus manger de ce qui a été prélevé sur les offrandes saintes.

13 Mais si elle est devenue veuve ou si elle est divorcée et sans enfants, et qu’elle soit retournée dans la maison de son père comme au temps de sa jeunesse, elle partagera la nourriture de son père; mais aucun profane n’en mangera.

14 Si quelqu’un a mangé par inadvertance une offrande sainte, il en rendra l’équivalent au prêtre en y ajoutant un cinquième.

15 Les prêtres ne profaneront pas les offrandes saintes des Israélites que ceux-ci prélèvent pour l’Eternel.

16 En consommant leurs offrandes saintes, ils se chargeraient d’une faute exigeant réparation, car moi, l’Eternel, je les rends saintes.

Les sacrifices acceptables et inacceptables

17 L’Eternel s’adressa à Moïse en ces termes:

18 —Parle à Aaron, à ses fils et à tous les Israélites, et dis-leur ce qui suit: Tout homme — Israélite ou immigré — qui offre un *holocauste à l’Eternel — soit pour l’accomplissement de quelque *vœu, soit comme don volontaire —

19 devra apporter, pour être agréé, une bête mâle sans défaut, un bœuf, un mouton ou un chevreau.

20 Vous n’offrirez pas un animal présentant une malformation, car votre sacrifice ne serait pas agréé.

21 De même, si un homme offre à l’Eternel un sacrifice de communion sous forme de gros ou de menu bétail pour accomplir un vœu, ou comme don volontaire, il devra présenter, s’il veut être agréé, une victime sans défaut ne présentant aucune malformation.

22 Vous n’offrirez pas à l’Eternel une bête aveugle, estropiée, mutilée ou affectée d’un ulcère, de la gale ou d’une dartre, vous ne la ferez pas brûler sur l’autel comme sacrifice consumé pour l’Eternel.

23 Si un bœuf ou un agneau a un membre trop long ou trop court, tu pourras l’offrir comme don volontaire, mais un tel animal ne serait pas agréé pour l’accomplissement d’un vœu.

24 Vous n’offrirez pas à l’Eternel un animal ayant des organes génitaux écrasés ou broyés, arrachés ou coupés; vous ne ferez pas cela quand vous serez dans votre pays.

25 Vous n’accepterez même pas de tels animaux de la part d’un étranger pour les offrir comme aliment à votre Dieu; du moment qu’ils sont mutilés ou ont une malformation, ils ne seront pas agréés de votre part.

26 L’Eternel parla à Moïse en ces termes:

27 —Quand un veau, un agneau ou un chevreau naîtra, il restera sept jours avec sa mère; à partir du huitième jour seulement, il pourra être agréé comme sacrifice consumé offert à l’Eternel.

28 Mais vous n’immolerez jamais une vache, une brebis ou une chèvre le même jour que son petit.

29 Quand vous offrirez un sacrifice de reconnaissance à l’Eternel, faites-le de manière à être agréés.

30 Il sera mangé le jour même; vous n’en laisserez rien jusqu’au lendemain matin. Je suis l’Eternel.

31 Vous obéirez à mes commandements et vous les accomplirez. Je suis l’Eternel.

32 Vous ne profanerez pas ma sainteté; ma sainteté sera respectée par les Israélites. Moi, l’Eternel, je vous rends saints,

33 moi qui vous ai fait sortir d’Egypte pour être votre Dieu. Je suis l’Eternel.
