Luke 24

1 But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they came unto the tomb, bringing the spices which they had prepared.2 And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb.3 And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus.4 And it came to pass, while they were perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in dazzling apparel:5 and as they were affrighted and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead?6 He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee,7 saying that the Son of man must be delivered up into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.8 And they remembered his words,9 and returned from the tomb, and told all these things to the eleven, and to all the rest.10 Now they were Mary Magdalene, and Joanna, and Mary the mother of James: and the other women with them told these things unto the apostles.11 And these words appeared in their sight as idle talk; and they disbelieved them.12 But Peter arose, and ran unto the tomb; and stooping and looking in, he seeth the linen cloths by themselves; and he departed to his home, wondering at that which was come to pass.13 And behold, two of them were going that very day to a village named Emmaus, which was threescore furlongs from Jerusalem.14 And they communed with each other of all these things which had happened.15 And it came to pass, while they communed and questioned together, that Jesus himself drew near, and went with them.16 But their eyes were holden that they should not know him.17 And he said unto them, What communications are these that ye have one with another, as ye walk? And they stood still, looking sad.18 And one of them, named Cleopas, answering said unto him, Dost thou alone sojourn in Jerusalem and not know the things which are come to pass there in these days?19 And he said unto them, What things? And they said unto him, The things concerning Jesus the Nazarene, who was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people:20 and how the chief priests and our rulers delivered him up to be condemned to death, and crucified him.21 But we hoped that it was he who should redeem Israel. Yea and besides all this, it is now the third day since these things came to pass.22 Moreover certain women of our company amazed us, having been early at the tomb;23 and when they found not his body, they came, saying, that they had also seen a vision of angels, who said that he was alive.24 And certain of them that were with us went to the tomb, and found it even so as the women had said: but him they saw not.25 And he said unto them, O foolish men, and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken!26 Behooved it not the Christ to suffer these things, and to enter into his glory?27 And beginning from Moses and from all the prophets, he interpreted to them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.28 And they drew nigh unto the village, whither they were going: and he made as though he would go further.29 And they constrained him, saying, Abide with us; for it is toward evening, and the day is now far spent. And he went in to abide with them.30 And it came to pass, when he had sat down with them to meat, he took the bread and blessed; and breaking it he gave to them.31 And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight.32 And they said one to another, Was not our heart burning within us, while he spake to us in the way, while he opened to us the scriptures?33 And they rose up that very hour, and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven gathered together, and them that were with them,34 saying, The Lord is risen indeed, and hath appeared to Simon.35 And they rehearsed the things that happened in the way, and how he was known of them in the breaking of the bread.36 And as they spake these things, he himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.37 But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they beheld a spirit.38 And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? and wherefore do questionings arise in your heart?39 See my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye behold me having.40 And when he had said this, he showed them his hands and his feet.41 And while they still disbelieved for joy, and wondered, he said unto them, Have ye here anything to eat?42 And they gave him a piece of a broiled fish.43 And he took it, and ate before them.44 And he said unto them, These are my words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must needs be fulfilled, which are written in the law of Moses, and the prophets, and the psalms, concerning me.45 Then opened he their mind, that they might understand the scriptures;46 and he said unto them, Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer, and rise again from the dead the third day;47 and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name unto all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem.48 Ye are witnesses of these things.49 And behold, I send forth the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city, until ye be clothed with power from on high.50 And he led them out until they were over against Bethany: and he lifted up his hands, and blessed them.51 And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he parted from them, and was carried up into heaven.52 And they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy:53 and were continually in the temple, blessing God.

Luc 24

Jésus est ressuscité!

(Mt 28.1-9; Mc 16.1-8; Jn 20.1-10)

1 Le dimanche matin de très bonne heure, les femmes se rendirent au tombeau emportant les huiles aromatiques qu’elles avaient préparées.

2 Elles découvrirent que la pierre fermant l’entrée du sépulcre avait été roulée à quelque distance de l’ouverture.

3 Elles pénétrèrent à l’intérieur, mais ne trouvèrent pas le corps du Seigneur Jésus.

4 Pendant qu’elles en étaient encore à se demander ce que cela signifiait, deux personnages vêtus d’habits étincelants se tinrent tout à coup devant elles.

5 Elles étaient tout effrayées et baissaient les yeux vers le sol. Ils leur dirent alors:
—Pourquoi cherchez-vous parmi les morts celui qui est vivant?

6 Il n’est plus ici, mais il est ressuscité. Rappelez-vous ce qu’il vous disait quand il était encore en *Galilée:

7 «Il faut que le *Fils de l’homme soit livré entre les mains des pécheurs, qu’il soit crucifié, et qu’il ressuscite le troisième jour.»

8 Elles se souvinrent alors des paroles de Jésus.

9 Elles revinrent du tombeau et allèrent tout raconter aux Onze, ainsi qu’à tous les autres *disciples.

10 C’étaient Marie de Magdala, Jeanne, Marie, la mère de *Jacques. Quelques autres femmes, qui étaient avec elles, portèrent aussi la nouvelle aux *apôtres;

11 mais ceux-ci trouvèrent leurs propos absurdes et n’y ajoutèrent pas foi.

12 Pierre, cependant, partit et courut au tombeau. En se penchant, il ne vit que des linges funéraires. Il s’en retourna, très étonné de ce qui s’était passé.

Jésus apparaît à quelques disciples

13 Le même jour, deux disciples se rendaient à un village nommé Emmaüs, à une douzaine de kilomètres de *Jérusalem.

14 Ils s’entretenaient de tous ces événements.

15 Pendant qu’ils échangeaient ainsi leurs propos et leurs réflexions, Jésus lui-même s’approcha d’eux et les accompagna.

16 Mais leurs yeux étaient incapables de le reconnaître.

17 Il leur dit:
—De quoi discutez-vous en marchant?
Ils s’arrêtèrent, l’air attristé.

18 L’un d’eux, nommé Cléopas, lui répondit:
—Es-tu le seul parmi ceux qui séjournent à Jérusalem qui ne sache pas ce qui s’y est passé ces jours-ci?

19 —Quoi donc? leur demanda-t-il.
—Ce qui est arrivé à Jésus de *Nazareth. C’était un *prophète qui agissait et parlait avec puissance, devant Dieu et devant tout le peuple.

20 Nos chefs des *prêtres et nos dirigeants l’ont livré aux Romains pour le faire condamner à mort et clouer sur une croix.

21 Nous avions espéré qu’il était celui qui devait délivrer *Israël. Mais hélas! Voilà déjà trois jours que tout cela est arrivé.

22 Il est vrai que quelques femmes de notre groupe nous ont fort étonnés. Elles sont allées au tombeau très tôt ce matin,

23 mais elles n’ont pas trouvé son corps et sont venues raconter qu’elles ont vu apparaître des *anges qui leur ont assuré qu’il est vivant.

24 Là-dessus, quelques-uns de ceux qui étaient avec nous se sont aussi rendus au tombeau; ils ont bien trouvé les choses telles que les femmes les ont décrites; mais lui, ils ne l’ont pas vu.
Alors Jésus leur dit:

25 —Ah! hommes sans intelligence! Vous êtes bien lents à croire tout ce que les prophètes ont annoncé.

26 Le Christ ne devait-il pas souffrir toutes ces choses avant d’entrer dans sa gloire?

27 Alors, commençant par les livres de *Moïse et parcourant tous ceux des prophètes, Jésus leur expliqua ce qui se rapportait à lui dans toutes les Ecritures.

28 Entre-temps, ils arrivèrent près du village où ils se rendaient. Jésus sembla vouloir continuer sa route.

29 Mais ils le retinrent avec une vive insistance en disant:
—Reste donc avec nous; tu vois: le jour baisse et le soir approche.
Alors il entra dans la maison pour rester avec eux.

30 Il se mit à table avec eux, prit le pain et, après avoir prononcé la prière de bénédiction, il le partagea et le leur donna.

31 Alors leurs yeux s’ouvrirent et ils le reconnurent... mais, déjà, il avait disparu.

32 Et ils se dirent l’un à l’autre:
—N’avons-nous pas senti comme un feu dans notre cœur pendant qu’il nous parlait en chemin et qu’il nous expliquait les Ecritures?

33 Ils se levèrent sur l’heure et retournèrent à Jérusalem. Ils y trouvèrent les Onze réunis avec leurs compagnons.

34 Tous les accueillirent par ces paroles:
—Le Seigneur est réellement ressuscité, il s’est montré à *Simon.

35 Alors les deux disciples racontèrent à leur tour ce qui leur était arrivé en chemin et comment ils avaient reconnu Jésus au moment où il avait partagé le pain.

Jésus apparaît aux Onze

(Jn 20.19-23)

36 Pendant qu’ils s’entretenaient ainsi, Jésus lui-même se trouva au milieu d’eux et leur dit:
—La paix soit avec vous.

37 Mais ils furent saisis de crainte et d’effroi, croyant voir un esprit.

38 —Pourquoi êtes-vous troublés? leur dit-il. Pourquoi les doutes envahissent-ils votre cœur?

39 Regardez mes mains et mes pieds, et reconnaissez que c’est bien moi. Touchez-moi et regardez! Car un esprit n’a ni chair ni os. Or, vous voyez bien que j’en ai.

40 Tout en disant cela, il leur montra ses mains et ses pieds.

41 Mais ils étaient si heureux qu’ils ne parvenaient pas à croire et restaient dans l’étonnement. Alors il leur demanda:
—Avez-vous quelque chose à manger?

42 Ils lui présentèrent un morceau de poisson grillé.

43 Il le prit et le mangea sous leurs yeux.

44 Puis il leur dit:
—Voici ce que je vous ai dit quand j’étais encore avec vous: «Il faut que s’accomplisse tout ce qui est écrit de moi dans la *Loi de *Moïse, dans les prophètes, et dans les Psaumes.»

45 Là-dessus, il leur ouvrit l’intelligence pour qu’ils comprennent les Ecritures.

46 —Vous voyez, leur dit-il, les Ecritures enseignent que le *Messie doit souffrir, qu’il ressuscitera le troisième jour,

47 et qu’on annoncera de sa part aux hommes de toutes les nations, en commençant par Jérusalem, qu’ils doivent changer pour obtenir le pardon des péchés.

48 Vous êtes les témoins de ces événements.

49 Quant à moi, j’enverrai bientôt sur vous ce que mon Père vous a promis. Vous donc, restez ici dans cette ville, jusqu’à ce que vous soyez revêtus de la puissance d’en haut.

Jésus enlevé au ciel

50 Ensuite il les emmena hors de la ville jusqu’aux environs de Béthanie et là, élevant ses mains, il les bénit.

51 Pendant qu’il les bénissait, il les quitta et fut enlevé au ciel.

52 Quant à eux, après l’avoir adoré, ils retournèrent à Jérusalem, le cœur rempli de joie.

53 Là, ils se retrouvaient à toute heure dans la cour du *Temple pour louer Dieu.
