Mark 3

1 And he entered again into the synagogue; and there was a man there who had his hand withered.2 And they watched him, whether he would heal him on the sabbath day; that they might accuse him.3 And he saith unto the man that had his hand withered, Stand forth.4 And he saith unto them, Is it lawful on the sabbath day to do good, or to do harm? to save a life, or to kill? But they held their peace.5 And when he had looked round about on them with anger, being grieved at the hardening of their heart, he saith unto the man, Stretch forth thy hand. And he stretched it forth; and his hand was restored.6 And the Pharisees went out, and straightway with the Herodians took counsel against him, how they might destroy him.7 And Jesus with his disciples withdrew to the sea: and a great multitude from Galilee followed; and from Judaea,8 and from Jerusalem, and from Idumaea, and beyond the Jordan, and about Tyre and Sidon, a great multitude, hearing what great things he did, came unto him.9 And he spake to his disciples, that a little boat should wait on him because of the crowd, lest they should throng him:10 for he had healed many; insomuch that as many as had plagues pressed upon him that they might touch him.11 And the unclean spirits, whensoever they beheld him, fell down before him, and cried, saying, Thou art the Son of God.12 And he charged them much that they should not make him known.13 And he goeth up into the mountain, and calleth unto him whom he himself would; and they went unto him.14 And he appointed twelve, that they might be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach,15 and to have authority to cast out demons:16 and Simon he surnamed Peter;17 and James the son of Zebedee, and John the brother of James; and them he surnamed Boanerges, which is, Sons of thunder:18 and Andrew, and Philip, and Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas, and James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus, and Simon the Cananaean,19 and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him. And he cometh into a house.20 And the multitude cometh together again, so that they could not so much as eat bread.21 And when his friends heard it, they went out to lay hold on him: for they said, He is beside himself.22 And the scribes that came down from Jerusalem said, He hath Beelzebub, and, By the prince of the demons casteth he out the demons.23 And he called them unto him, and said unto them in parables, How can Satan cast out Satan?24 And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.25 And if a house be divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand.26 And if Satan hath risen up against himself, and is divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.27 But no one can enter into the house of the strong man, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man; and then he will spoil his house.28 Verily I say unto you, All their sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and their blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme:29 but whosoever shall blaspheme against the Holy Spirit hath never forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin:30 because they said, He hath an unclean spirit.31 And there come his mother and his brethren; and, standing without, they sent unto him, calling him.32 And a multitude was sitting about him; and they say unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren without seek for thee.33 And he answereth them, and saith, Who is my mother and my brethren?34 And looking round on them that sat round about him, he saith, Behold, my mother and my brethren!35 For whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.

Marc 3

(Mt 12.9-14; Lc 6.6-11)

1 Jésus entra de nouveau dans la *synagogue. Il s’y trouvait un homme avec la main paralysée.

2 On le surveillait attentivement pour voir s’il le guérirait un jour de sabbat: ils voulaient ainsi pouvoir l’accuser.

3 Jésus dit à l’homme à la main infirme:
—Lève-toi et mets-toi là, au milieu.

4 Puis il demanda aux autres:
—Est-il permis, le jour du sabbat, de faire du bien ou de faire du mal? A-t-on le droit de sauver une vie ou faut-il la laisser se détruire?
Mais personne ne dit mot.

5 Jésus promena sur eux un regard indigné. Profondément attristé par la dureté de leur cœur, il dit à l’homme:
—Etends la main.
Il la tendit et elle fut guérie.

6 Aussitôt, les *pharisiens sortirent de la synagogue et allèrent se concerter avec des membres du parti d’*Hérode sur les moyens de faire mourir Jésus.

Jésus parmi la foule

7 Jésus se retira du côté du lac avec ses *disciples. Une foule immense le suivait: elle était venue de la *Galilée,

8 de la *Judée, de *Jérusalem, de l’Idumée, des territoires de l’autre côté du *Jourdain ainsi que de la région de *Tyr et de Sidon. Ces gens venaient à lui car ils avaient appris tout ce qu’il faisait.

9 Il demanda alors à ses disciples de tenir une barque à sa disposition pour éviter d’être écrasé par la foule.

10 En effet, comme il guérissait beaucoup de gens, tous les malades se précipitaient vers lui pour le toucher.

11 Lorsque des gens qui étaient sous l’emprise d’esprits mauvais le voyaient, ils se prosternaient devant lui et s’écriaient:
—Tu es le Fils de Dieu.

12 Mais il leur défendait absolument de faire savoir qui il était.

Le choix des apôtres

(Mt 10.1-4; Lc 6.12-16)

13 Plus tard, il monta sur une colline avoisinante et appela ceux qu’il voulait, et ils vinrent à lui.

14 Il désigna ainsi douze hommes qu’il nomma *apôtres et qui devaient être constamment avec lui;

15 il les envoya annoncer l’Evangile avec le pouvoir de chasser les démons.

16 Voici les noms des Douze qu’il désigna: Simon, auquel Jésus donna le nom de Pierre,

17 *Jacques, fils de Zébédée et Jean son frère auxquels il donna le nom de Boanergès, ce qui signifie «fils du tonnerre»,

18 André, Philippe, Barthélemy, Matthieu, Thomas, *Jacques, fils d’Alphée, Thaddée, Simon le Zélé,

19 et Judas Iscariot, celui qui le trahit.

Jésus: Dieu ou Satan?

(Mt 12.22-32; Lc 11.15-23; 12.10)

20 Jésus alla à la maison et, de nouveau, la foule s’y pressa au point que lui et ses *disciples n’arrivaient même plus à manger.

21 Quand les membres de sa famille l’apprirent, ils vinrent pour le ramener de force avec eux. Ils disaient en effet: «Il est devenu fou.»

22 Les *spécialistes de la Loi qui étaient venus de *Jérusalem disaient:
—Il est sous l’emprise de Béelzébul; c’est par le pouvoir du chef des démons qu’il chasse les démons.

23 Alors Jésus les appela et leur expliqua la situation au moyen de *paraboles:
—Comment *Satan peut-il chasser Satan?

24 Un pays déchiré par la guerre civile ne peut pas subsister.

25 Si une famille est divisée, cette famille ne peut pas subsister.

26 Si donc Satan se bat contre lui-même, si son royaume est divisé, il ne peut plus subsister, c’en est fini de lui.

27 En fait, personne ne peut pénétrer dans la maison d’un homme fort pour s’emparer de ses biens sans avoir d’abord ligoté cet homme fort: c’est alors qu’il pillera sa maison.

28 Vraiment, je vous avertis: tout sera pardonné aux hommes, leurs péchés et les *blasphèmes qu’ils auront prononcés.

29 Mais si quelqu’un blasphème contre l’Esprit Saint, il ne lui sera jamais pardonné: il portera éternellement la charge de ce péché.

30 Jésus leur parla ainsi parce qu’ils disaient: «Il est sous l’emprise d’un esprit mauvais.»

La vraie famille de Jésus

(Mt 12.46-50; Lc 8.19-21)

31 La mère et les frères de Jésus arrivèrent. Ils se tinrent dehors et envoyèrent quelqu’un l’appeler.

32 Beaucoup de monde était assis autour de lui. On vint lui dire:
—Ta mère, tes frères et tes sœurs sont dehors et te cherchent.

33 Il répondit:
—Qui sont ma mère et mes frères?

34 Et, promenant les regards sur ceux qui étaient assis en cercle autour de lui, il dit:
—Voici ma mère et mes frères,

35 car celui qui fait la volonté de Dieu, celui-là est pour moi un frère, une sœur, ou une mère.
