Psalm 94
1 O Jehovah, thou God to whom vengeance belongeth, Thou God to whom vengeance belongeth, shine forth.
2 Lift up thyself, thou judge of the earth: Render to the proud their desert.
3 Jehovah, how long shall the wicked, How long shall the wicked triumph?
4 They prate, they speak arrogantly: All the workers of iniquity boast themselves.
5 They break in pieces thy people, O Jehovah, And afflict thy heritage.
6 They slay the widow and the sojourner, And murder the fatherless.
7 And they say, Jehovah will not see, Neither will the God of Jacob consider.
8 Consider, ye brutish among the people; And ye fools, when will ye be wise?
9 He that planted the ear, shall he not hear? He that formed the eye, shall he not see?
10 He that chastiseth the nations, shall not he correct, Even he that teacheth man knowledge?
11 Jehovah knoweth the thoughts of man, That they are vanity.
12 Blessed is the man whom thou chastenest, O Jehovah, And teachest out of thy law;
13 That thou mayest give him rest from the days of adversity, Until the pit be digged for the wicked.
14 For Jehovah will not cast off his people, Neither will he forsake his inheritance.
15 For judgment shall return unto righteousness; And all the upright in heart shall follow it.
16 Who will rise up for me against the evil-doers? Who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?
17 Unless Jehovah had been my help, My soul had soon dwelt in silence.
18 When I said, My foot slippeth; Thy lovingkindness, O Jehovah, held me up.
19 In the multitude of my thoughts within me Thy comforts delight my soul.
20 Shall the throne of wickedness have fellowship with thee, Which frameth mischief by statute?
21 They gather themselves together against the soul of the righteous, And condemn the innocent blood.
22 But Jehovah hath been my high tower, And my God the rock of my refuge.
23 And he hath brought upon them their own iniquity, And will cut them off in their own wickedness; Jehovah our God will cut them off.

Dieu vengeur de l’injustice
1 tDieu des vengeances, SEIGNEUR,
Dieu des vengeances, parais dans ta splendeur !
2 tLève-toi, juge de la terre,
pour rendre la pareille aux orgueilleux !
3 tJusqu’à quand les méchants, SEIGNEUR,
jusqu’à quand les méchants exulteront-ils ?
4 tIls éructent, ils parlent avec insolence ;
tous les malfaisants se consultent.
5 tSEIGNEUR, ils écrasent ton peuple,
ils affligent ton patrimoine ;
6 tils tuent la veuve et l’immigré,
ils assassinent les orphelins
7 tet ils disent : Le SEIGNEUR (Yah) ne voit rien,
le Dieu de Jacob ne comprend rien !
8 tComprends donc, peuple abruti !
Gens stupides, quand aurez-vous du bon sens ?
9 tCelui qui plante l’oreille n’entendrait-il pas ?
Celui qui façonne l’œil ne verrait-il pas ?
10 tCelui qui instruit les nations n’avertirait-il pas,
lui qui apprend la connaissance aux humains ?
11 tLe SEIGNEUR connaît les pensées des humains :
elles sont futiles !
12 tHeureux l’homme que tu instruis, SEIGNEUR (Yah),
à qui tu apprends ta loi,
13 tpour lui donner la tranquillité aux jours du malheur,
jusqu’à ce qu’une fosse soit creusée pour le méchant !
14 tCar le SEIGNEUR ne délaisse pas son peuple,
il n’abandonne pas son patrimoine ;
15 tcar le jugement reviendra à la justice,
et tous ceux qui ont le cœur droit le suivront.
16 tQui se dressera pour moi contre les gens mauvais ?
Qui se tiendra debout pour moi contre les malfaisants ?
17 tSi le SEIGNEUR n’était pas mon secours,
je serais bien vite dans la demeure du silence.
18 tQuand je dis : Je vacille sur mes jambes !
ta fidélité, SEIGNEUR, me soutient.
19 tQuand une foule de préoccupations s’agite au dedans de moi,
tes consolations me remplissent de délices.
20 tA-t-il partie liée avec toi, ce trône de malheur
qui façonne l’oppression à l’aide du code ?
21 tIls s’attroupent contre la vie du juste
et condamnent le sang innocent.
22 tMais le SEIGNEUR est ma citadelle,
mon Dieu est le rocher où je m’abrite.
23 tIl fera retomber sur eux leur malfaisance,
il les réduira au silence par leur propre mal ;
le SEIGNEUR, notre Dieu, les réduira au silence.
