Exodus 10

1 And Jehovah said unto Moses, Go in unto Pharaoh: for I have hardened his heart, and the heart of his servants, that I may show these my signs in the midst of them,2 and that thou mayest tell in the ears of thy son, and of thy son’s son, what things I have wrought upon Egypt, and my signs which I have done among them; that ye may know that I am Jehovah.3 And Moses and Aaron went in unto Pharaoh, and said unto him, Thus saith Jehovah, the God of the Hebrews, How long wilt thou refuse to humble thyself before me? let my people go, that they may serve me.4 Else, if thou refuse to let my people go, behold, to-morrow will I bring locusts into thy border:5 and they shall cover the face of the earth, so that one shall not be able to see the earth: and they shall eat the residue of that which is escaped, which remaineth unto you from the hail, and shall eat every tree which groweth for you out of the field:6 and thy houses shall be filled, and the houses of all thy servants, and the houses of all the Egyptians; as neither thy fathers nor thy fathers’ fathers have seen, since the day that they were upon the earth unto this day. And he turned, and went out from Pharaoh.7 And Pharaoh’s servants said unto him, How long shall this man be a snare unto us? let the men go, that they may serve Jehovah their God: knowest thou not yet that Egypt is destroyed?8 And Moses and Aaron were brought again unto Pharaoh: and he said unto them, Go, serve Jehovah your God; but who are they that shall go?9 And Moses said, We will go with our young and with our old; with our sons and with our daughters, with our flocks and with our herds will we go; for we must hold a feast unto Jehovah.10 And he said unto them, So be Jehovah with you, as I will let you go, and your little ones: look to it; for evil is before you.11 Not so: go now ye that are men, and serve Jehovah; for that is what ye desire. And they were driven out from Pharaoh’s presence.

12 And Jehovah said unto Moses, Stretch out thy hand over the land of Egypt for the locusts, that they may come up upon the land of Egypt, and eat every herb of the land, even all that the hail hath left.13 And Moses stretched forth his rod over the land of Egypt, and Jehovah brought an east wind upon the land all that day, and all the night; and when it was morning, the east wind brought the locusts.14 And the locusts went up over all the land of Egypt, and rested in all the borders of Egypt; very grievous were they; before them there were no such locusts as they, neither after them shall be such.15 For they covered the face of the whole earth, so that the land was darkened; and they did eat every herb of the land, and all the fruit of the trees which the hail had left: and there remained not any green thing, either tree or herb of the field, through all the land of Egypt.16 Then Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron in haste; and he said, I have sinned against Jehovah your God, and against you.17 Now therefore forgive, I pray thee, my sin only this once, and entreat Jehovah your God, that he may take away from me this death only.18 And he went out from Pharaoh, and entreated Jehovah.19 And Jehovah turned an exceeding strong west wind, which took up the locusts, and drove them into the Red Sea; there remained not one locust in all the border of Egypt.20 But Jehovah hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he did not let the children of Israel go.

21 And Jehovah said unto Moses, Stretch out thy hand toward heaven, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, even darkness which may be felt.22 And Moses stretched forth his hand toward heaven; and there was a thick darkness in all the land of Egypt three days;23 they saw not one another, neither rose any one from his place for three days: but all the children of Israel had light in their dwellings.24 And Pharaoh called unto Moses, and said, Go ye, serve Jehovah; only let your flocks and your herds be stayed: let your little ones also go with you.25 And Moses said, Thou must also give into our hand sacrifices and burnt-offerings, that we may sacrifice unto Jehovah our God.26 Our cattle also shall go with us; there shall not a hoof be left behind: for thereof must we take to serve Jehovah our God; and we know not with what we must serve Jehovah, until we come thither.27 But Jehovah hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he would not let them go.28 And Pharaoh said unto him, Get thee from me, take heed to thyself, see my face no more; for in the day thou seest my face thou shalt die.29 And Moses said, Thou hast spoken well. I will see thy face again no more.

여덟째 재앙－메뚜기떼

1 그때 여호와께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다. “너는 다시 바로에게 가거라. 내 가 그와 그의 신하들을 완고하게 한 것은 그들 가운데 내가 이런 기적들을 행하여

2 네가 네 자녀들과 손자들에게 내가 어떻게 이집트 사람들을 벌하고 그들 가운데 기적을 보였는지 말할 수 있게 하며 또 내가 여호와임을 너희가 다 알도록 하기 위해서이다.”

3 그래서 모세와 아론은 바로에게 가서 말하였다. “히브리 사람의 하나님 여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하십니다. ‘네가 언제까지 나에게 복종하지 않겠느냐? 내 백성을 보내 그들이 나를 섬길 수 있게 하라.

4 네가 만일 계속 거절한다면 내가 내일 메뚜기떼가 네 나라에 들어가게 하겠다.

5 메뚜기가 온 지면을 덮어 사람이 땅을 볼 수 없을 것이다. 메뚜기가 우박의 피해를 입지 않은 모든 것을 먹고 들에서 자라는 모든 나무를 먹을 것이며

6 또 네 궁전과 네 신하와 백성들의 모든 집이 메뚜기로 가득할 것이니 네 조상들이 세상에서 아직 보지 못한 것들이다.’” 그러고서 모세는 바로 앞에서 나왔다.

7 그때 바로의 신하들이 바로에게 “언제까지 이 사람이 우리에게 함정이 되어야 합니까? 이스라엘 자손들을 보내 그들의 하나님 여호와를 섬길 수 있게 하십시오. 왕은 아직도 이집트가 망한 줄을 모르십니까?” 하고

8 모세와 아론을 바로에게 다시 데려갔다. 그러자 왕은 그들에게 “가서 너희 하나님 여호와를 섬겨라. 그런데 갈 사람은 누구누구냐?” 하고 물었다.

9 그때 모세가 “우리는 여호와께 명절을 지켜야 하므로 남자 여자 어른 아이 할 것 없이 다 가야 하며 소와 양도 끌고 가야 합니다” 하고 대답하자

10 바로가 이렇게 말하였다. “내가 결코 너희 여자들과 자녀들을 함께 보내지 않겠다. 너희가 악한 음모를 꾸미고 있는 것이 틀림없다.

11 절대로 안 된다. 너희 남자만 가서 여호와를 섬겨라. 이것이 너희가 요구한 것이다.” 그러고서 모세와 아론은 바로 앞에서 쫓겨났다.

12 그때 여호와께서 모세에게 “네 손을 이집트 땅 위에 뻗쳐라. 그래서 메뚜기떼가 몰려와 우박의 피해를 입지 않고 남아 있는 밭의 모든 것을 먹게 하라” 하고 말씀하셨다.

13 모세가 이집트 땅 위에 그의 지팡이를 뻗치자 여호와께서 동풍을 일으켜 그 날 온 낮과 밤에 바람이 불게 하셨다. 그래서 동풍이 아침에 메뚜기떼를 몰고 왔다.

14 메뚜기가 이집트 전역을 완전히 덮어 그 피해가 막심하였다. 이런 메뚜기떼는 전에 한 번도 본 적이 없었고 앞으로도 볼 수 없는 것들이었다.

15 그 메뚜기떼가 온 땅을 새까맣게 뒤덮어 우박의 피해를 입지 않은 밭의 채소나 나무 열매를 모조리 먹었으므로 이집트 전역에 나무나 밭의 채소와 같은 푸른 것은 하나도 남지 않았다.

16 그러자 바로가 모세와 아론을 급히 불러 말하였다. “내가 너희 하나님 여호와와 너희에게 범죄하였다.

17 아무쪼록 내 죄를 이번만 용서하고 너희 하나님 여호와께 기도하여 이 치명적인 재앙을 내게서 떠나게 하라.”

18 그래서 모세가 바로를 떠나 여호와께 기도하자

19 여호와께서 동풍을 강한 서풍으로 돌변시켜 메뚜기떼를 2홍해에 몰아 넣으셨다. 그래서 이집트 땅에는 메뚜기가 한 마리도 남지 않았다.

20 그러나 여호와께서 바로를 완고하게 하셨으므로 그가 이스라엘 자손을 보내지 않았다.

아홉째 재앙－흑암

21 그때 여호와께서 모세에게 “너는 하늘을 향해 손을 들어 이집트 전역에 짙은 흑암이 있게 하라” 하고 말씀하셨다.

22 그래서 모세가 하늘을 향해 손을 들자 아주 캄캄한 흑암이 3일 동안 이집트 전역을 뒤덮었다.

23 그 기간 동안 이집트 사람들은 서로 알아볼 수도 없었고 자기 자리에서 일어나는 사람도 없었다. 그러나 이스라엘 자손들이 사는 곳에는 빛이 있었다.

24 그러자 바로가 모세를 불러 “너희는 가서 여호와를 섬겨라. 그러나 너희 양과 소는 남겨 두고 너희 자녀들만 데리고 가야 한다” 하고 말하였다.

25 그래서 모세가 이렇게 대답하였다. “왕은 우리 하나님 여호와께 드릴 희생제물과 불로 태워 바칠 번제물을 우리에게 주셔야 합니다.

26 우리 짐승은 한 마리도 남겨 두지 않고 가져가겠습니다. 우리는 그 중에서 우리 하나님 여호와께 드릴 제물을 선택해야 하며 또 우리가 거기 갈 때까지는 어떤 짐승을 여호와께 바쳐야 할지 모릅니다.”

27 그러나 여호와께서 바로를 완고하게 하셨으므로 그가 이스라엘 자손을 보내지 않고

28 모세에게 “너는 나를 떠나고 다시는 내 앞에 나타나지 말아라. 만일 네가 내 앞에 다시 나타나는 날에는 죽음을 면치 못할 것이다” 하였다.

29 그러자 모세가 “좋습니다. 내가 다시는 왕 앞에 나타나지 않겠습니다” 하고 대답하였다.
