Isaiah 2

1 The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem.2 And it shall come to pass in the latter days, that the mountain of Jehovah’s house shall be established on the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it.3 And many peoples shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of Jehovah, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of Jehovah from Jerusalem.4 And he will judge between the nations, and will decide concerning many peoples; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning-hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.5 O house of Jacob, come ye, and let us walk in the light of Jehovah.6 For thou hast forsaken thy people the house of Jacob, because they are filled with customs from the east, and are soothsayers like the Philistines, and they strike hands with the children of foreigners.7 And their land is full of silver and gold, neither is there any end of their treasures; their land also is full of horses, neither is there any end of their chariots.8 Their land also is full of idols; they worship the work of their own hands, that which their own fingers have made.9 And the mean man is bowed down, and the great man is brought low: therefore forgive them not.10 Enter into the rock, and hide thee in the dust, from before the terror of Jehovah, and from the glory of his majesty.11 The lofty looks of man shall be brought low, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and Jehovah alone shall be exalted in that day.12 For there shall be a day of Jehovah of hosts upon all that is proud and haughty, and upon all that is lifted up; and it shall be brought low;13 and upon all the cedars of Lebanon, that are high and lifted up, and upon all the oaks of Bashan,14 and upon all the high mountains, and upon all the hills that are lifted up,15 and upon every lofty tower, and upon every fortified wall,16 and upon all the ships of Tarshish, and upon all pleasant imagery.17 And the loftiness of man shall be bowed down, and the haughtiness of men shall be brought low; and Jehovah alone shall be exalted in that day.18 And the idols shall utterly pass away.19 And men shall go into the caves of the rocks, and into the holes of the earth, from before the terror of Jehovah, and from the glory of his majesty, when he ariseth to shake mightily the earth.20 In that day men shall cast away their idols of silver, and their idols of gold, which have been made for them to worship, to the moles and to the bats;21 to go into the caverns of the rocks, and into the clefts of the ragged rocks, from before the terror of Jehovah, and from the glory of his majesty, when he ariseth to shake mightily the earth.22 Cease ye from man, whose breath is in his nostrils; for wherein is he to be accounted of?

영원한 평화

1 이것은 아모스의 아들 이사야가 유다와 예루살렘을 두고, 계시로 받은 말씀이다. 2 마지막 때에, 주님의 성전이 서 있는 산이 모든 산 가운데서 으뜸가는 산이 될 것이며, 모든 언덕보다 높이 솟을 것이니, 모든 민족이 물밀듯 그리로 모여들 것이다.

3 백성들이 오면서 이르기를 “자, 가자. 우리 모두 주님의 산으로 올라가자. 야곱의 하나님이 계신 성전으로 어서 올라가자. 주님께서 우리에게 주님의 길을 가르치실 것이니, 주님께서 가르치시는 길을 따르자” 할 것이다. t율법이 시온에서 나오며, 주님의 말씀이 예루살렘에서 나온다.

4 주님께서 민족들 사이의 분쟁을 판결하시고, 뭇 백성 사이의 갈등을 해결하실 것이니, 그들이 칼을 쳐서 보습을 만들고 창을 쳐서 낫을 만들 것이며, 나라와 나라가 칼을 들고 서로를 치지 않을 것이며, 다시는 군사훈련도 하지 않을 것이다.

5 오너라, 야곱 족속아! 주님의 빛 가운데서 걸어가자!

주님의 날

6 주님, 주님께서는 주님의 백성 야곱 족속을 버리셨습니다. 그들에게는 동방의 미신이 가득합니다. 그들은 블레셋 사람들처럼 점을 치며, 이방 사람의 자손과 손을 잡고 언약을 맺었습니다.

7 그들의 땅에는 은과 금이 가득하고, 보화가 셀 수 없이 많습니다. 그들의 땅에는 군마가 가득하고, 병거도 셀 수 없이 많습니다.

8 그들의 땅에는 우상들로 꽉 차 있고, 그들은 제 손으로 만든 것과 제 손가락으로 만든 것에게 꿇어 엎드립니다.

9 이처럼 사람들이 천박해졌고 백성이 비굴해졌습니다. 그러니 t그들을 용서하지 마십시오.

10 너희는 바위 틈으로 들어가고, 티끌 속에 숨어서, 주님의 그 두렵고 찬란한 영광 앞에서 피하여라.

11 그 날에 인간의 거만한 눈초리가 풀이 죽고, 사람의 거드름이 꺾이고, 오직 주님만 홀로 높임을 받으실 것이다.

12 그 날은 만군의 주님께서 준비하셨다. 모든 교만한 자와 거만한 자, 모든 오만한 자들이 낮아지는 날이다.

13 또 그 날은, 높이 치솟은 레바논의 모든 백향목과 바산의 모든 상수리나무와,

14 모든 높은 산과 모든 솟아오른 언덕과,

15 모든 높은 망대와 모든 튼튼한 성벽과,

16  t 다시스의 모든 배와, 탐스러운 모든 조각물이 다 낮아지는 날이다.

17 그 날에, 인간의 거만이 꺾이고, 사람의 거드름은 풀이 죽을 것이다. 오직 주님만 홀로 높임을 받으시고,

18 우상들은 다 사라질 것이다.

19 그 때에 사람들이, 땅을 뒤흔들며 일어나시는 주님의 그 두렵고 찬란한 영광 앞에서 피하여, 바위 동굴과 땅굴로 들어갈 것이다.

20 그 날이 오면, 사람들은, 자기들이 경배하려고 만든 은 우상과 금 우상을 두더지와 박쥐에게 던져 버릴 것이다.

21 땅을 뒤흔들며 일어나시는 주님의 그 두렵고 찬란한 영광 앞에서 피하여, 바위 구멍과 바위 틈으로 들어갈 것이다.

22 “너희는 사람을 의지하지 말아라. 그의 숨이 코에 달려 있으니, 수에 셈할 가치가 어디에 있느냐?”
