Isaiah 54

1 Sing, O barren, thou that didst not bear; break forth into singing, and cry aloud, thou that didst not travail with child: for more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married wife, saith Jehovah.2 Enlarge the place of thy tent, and let them stretch forth the curtains of thy habitations; spare not: lengthen thy cords, and strengthen thy stakes.3 For thou shalt spread aboard on the right hand and on the left; and thy seed shall possess the nations, and make the desolate cities to be inhabited.4 Fear not; for thou shalt not be ashamed: neither be thou confounded; for thou shalt not be put to shame: for thou shalt forget the shame of thy youth; and the reproach of thy widowhood shalt thou remember no more.5 For thy Maker is thy husband; Jehovah of hosts is his name: and the Holy One of Israel is thy Redeemer; the God of the whole earth shall he be called.6 For Jehovah hath called thee as a wife forsaken and grieved in spirit, even a wife of youth, when she is cast off, saith thy God.7 For a small moment have I forsaken thee; but with great mercies will I gather thee.8 In overflowing wrath I hid my face from thee for a moment; but with everlasting lovingkindness will I have mercy on thee, saith Jehovah thy Redeemer.9 For this is as the waters of Noah unto me; for as I have sworn that the waters of Noah shall no more go over the earth, so have I sworn that I will not be wroth with thee, nor rebuke thee.10 For the mountains may depart, and the hills be removed; but my lovingkindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall my covenant of peace be removed, saith Jehovah that hath mercy on thee.11 O thou afflicted, tossed with tempest, and not comforted, behold, I will set thy stones in fair colors, and lay thy foundations with sapphires.12 And I will make thy pinnacles of rubies, and thy gates of carbuncles, and all thy border of precious stones.13 And all thy children shall be taught of Jehovah; and great shall be the peace of thy children.14 In righteousness shalt thou be established: thou shalt be far from oppression, for thou shalt not fear; and from terror, for it shall not come near thee.15 Behold, they may gather together, but not by me: whosoever shall gather together against thee shall fall because of thee.16 Behold, I have created the smith that bloweth the fire of coals, and bringeth forth a weapon for his work; and I have created the waster to destroy.17 No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of Jehovah, and their righteousness which is of me, saith Jehovah.

이스라엘을 향하신 주님의 사랑

1 임신하지 못하고 아기를 낳지 못한 너는 노래하여라. 해산의 고통을 겪어 본 적이 없는 너는 환성을 올리며 소리를 높여라. 아이를 못 낳아 버림받은 여인이 남편과 함께 사는 여인보다 더 많은 자녀를 볼 것이다. 주님께서 하신 말씀이다.

2 너의 장막 터를 넓혀라. 장막의 휘장을 아끼지 말고 펴라. 너의 장막 줄을 길게 늘이고 말뚝을 단단히 박아라.

3 네가 좌우로 퍼져 나가고, 너의 자손이 이방 나라들을 차지할 것이며, 황폐한 성읍들마다 주민들이 가득할 것이다.

4 두려워하지 말아라! 네가 이제는 수치를 당하지 않을 것이다. 당황하지 말아라! 네가 부끄러움을 당하는 일이 없을 것이다. 젊은 시절의 수치를 잊으며, 과부 시절의 치욕을 네가 다시는 기억하지 않을 것이다.

5 너를 지으신 분께서 너의 남편이 되실 것이다. 그분의 이름은 만군의 주님이시다. 너를 구속하신 분은 이스라엘의 거룩하신 하나님이시다. 그분은 온 세상의 하나님으로 불릴 것이다.

6 버림을 받아서 마음이 아픈 너를, 주님께서 부르신다. 젊은 나이에 아내가 되었다가 버림받은 너를, 주님께서 부르신다. 너의 하나님께서 말씀하신다.

7 “내가 잠시 너를 버렸으나, 큰 긍휼로 너를 다시 불러들이겠다.

8 분노가 북받쳐서 나의 얼굴을 너에게서 잠시 가렸으나 나의 영원한 사랑으로 너에게 긍휼을 베풀겠다. 너의 속량자인 나 주의 말이다.

9  노아 때에, 다시는 땅을 홍수로 멸망시키지 않겠다고 내가 약속하였다. 이제, 나는 너에게 노하지 않겠다고 약속한다. 너를 꾸짖거나 벌하지 않겠다.

10 비록 산들이 옮겨지고 언덕이 흔들린다 하여도, 나의 은총이 너에게서 떠나지 않으며, 평화의 언약을 파기하지 않겠다.” 너를 가엾게 여기는 주님께서 하시는 말씀이다.

미래의 예루살렘

11 너, 고난을 당하고 광풍에 시달려도 위로를 받지 못한 예루살렘아, 이제 내가 홍옥으로 벽을 쌓고, 청옥으로 성벽 기초를 놓겠다.

12 홍보석으로 흉벽을 만들고, 석류석으로 성문을 만들고, 보석으로 성벽 둘레를 꾸미겠다.

13 나 주가 너의 모든 아이를 제자로 삼아 가르치겠고, 너의 아이들은 번영과 평화를 누릴 것이다.

14 네가 공의의 터 위에 굳게 설 것이며, 억압이 너에게서 멀어질 것이니 너에게서는 두려움이 사라지고 공포 또한 사라져, 너에게 접근하지 못할 것이다.

15  t너를 공격하는 자들이 반드시 있겠지만, 그것은 내가 허락한 것이 아니다. t너를 공격하는 자는 누구든 너에게 패할 것이다.

16 “나는 대장장이를 창조하였다. 그는 숯불을 피워서 자기가 쓸 연장을 만든다. 군인도 내가 창조하였다. 그는 무기를 가지고 사람을 죽인다.”

17 그러나 어떤 무기도 너를 상하게 하지 못하고, 너에게 맞서서 송사하려고 일어나 혀를 놀리는 자를 네가 모두 논박할 것이다. “나의 종들을 내가 이렇게 막아 주고, 그들이 승리를 차지하도록 하겠다.” 주님께서 하신 말씀이다.
