Job 2

1 Again it came to pass on the day when the sons of God came to present themselves before Jehovah, that Satan came also among them to present himself before Jehovah.2 And Jehovah said unto Satan, From whence comest thou? And Satan answered Jehovah, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.3 And Jehovah said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job? for there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and turneth away from evil: and he still holdeth fast his integrity, although thou movedst me against him, to destroy him without cause.4 And Satan answered Jehovah, and said, Skin for skin, yea, all that a man hath will he give for his life.5 But put forth thy hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will renounce thee to thy face.6 And Jehovah said unto Satan, Behold, he is in thy hand; only spare his life.7 So Satan went forth from the presence of Jehovah, and smote Job with sore boils from the sole of his foot unto his crown.8 And he took him a potsherd to scrape himself therewith; and he sat among the ashes.9 Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still hold fast thine integrity? renounce God, and die.10 But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips.11 Now when Job’s three friends heard of all this evil that was come upon him, they came every one from his own place: Eliphaz the Temanite, and Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite, and they made an appointment together to come to bemoan him and to comfort him.12 And when they lifted up their eyes afar off, and knew him not, they lifted up their voice, and wept; and they rent every one his robe, and sprinkled dust upon their heads toward heaven.13 So they sat down with him upon the ground seven days and seven nights, and none spake a word unto him: for they saw that his grief was very great.

욥기 2

사탄이 다시 욥을 시험하다

1 하루는 t하나님의 아들들이 와서 주님 앞에 서고, 사탄도 그들과 함께 주님 앞에 섰다. 2 주님께서 사탄에게 “어디를 갔다가 오는 길이냐?” 하고 물으셨다. 사탄은 주님께 “땅을 이리저리 돌아다니다가 오는 길입니다” 하고 대답하였다. 3 주님께서 사탄에게 말씀하셨다. “너는 내 종 욥을 잘 살펴 보았느냐? 이 세상에 그 사람만큼 흠이 없고 정직한 사람, 그렇게 하나님을 경외하고 악을 멀리하는 사람이 없다. 네가 나를 부추겨서, 공연히 그를 해치려고 하였지만, 그는 여전히 자기의 온전함을 굳게 지키고 있지 않느냐?” 4  사탄이 주님께 아뢰었다. “가죽은 가죽으로 대신할 수 있습니다. 사람은 자기 생명을 지키는 일이면, 자기가 가진 모든 것을 버립니다. 5 이제라도 주님께서 손을 들어서 그의 뼈와 살을 치시면, 그는 당장 주님 앞에서 주님을 t저주하고 말 것입니다!” 6 주님께서 사탄에게 말씀하셨다. “그렇다면, 그를 너에게 맡겨 보겠다. 그러나 그의 생명만은 건드리지 말아라!” 7  사탄은 주님 앞에서 물러나 곧 욥을 쳐서, 발바닥에서부터 정수리에까지 악성 종기가 나서 고생하게 하였다. 8 그래서 욥은 잿더미에 앉아서, 옹기 조각을 가지고 자기 몸을 긁고 있었다. 9 그러자 아내가 그에게 말하였다. “이래도 당신은 여전히 신실함을 지킬 겁니까? 차라리 하나님을 t저주하고서 죽는 것이 낫겠습니다.” 10 그러나 욥은 그에게 이렇게 대답하였다. “당신까지도 t어리석은 여자들처럼 말하는구려. 우리가 누리는 복도 하나님께로부터 받았는데, 어찌 재앙이라고 해서 못 받는다 하겠소?” 이렇게 하여, 욥은 이 모든 어려움을 당하고서도, 말로 죄를 짓지 않았다.
