Luke 2

1 Now it came to pass in those days, there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be enrolled.2 This was the first enrolment made when Quirinius was governor of Syria.3 And all went to enrol themselves, every one to his own city.4 And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David;5 to enrol himself with Mary, who was betrothed to him, being great with child.6 And it came to pass, while they were there, the days were fulfilled that she should be delivered.7 And she brought forth her firstborn son; and she wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.8 And there were shepherds in the same country abiding in the field, and keeping watch by night over their flock.9 And an angel of the Lord stood by them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.10 And the angel said unto them, Be not afraid; for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which shall be to all the people:11 for there is born to you this day in the city of David a Saviour, who is Christ the Lord.12 And this is the sign unto you: Ye shall find a babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, and lying in a manger.13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,

14 Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace among men in whom he is well pleased.

15 And it came to pass, when the angels went away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing that is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.16 And they came with haste, and found both Mary and Joseph, and the babe lying in the manger.17 And when they saw it, they made known concerning the saying which was spoken to them about this child.18 And all that heard it wondered at the things which were spoken unto them by the shepherds.19 But Mary kept all these sayings, pondering them in her heart.20 And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, even as it was spoken unto them.21 And when eight days were fulfilled for circumcising him, his name was called JESUS, which was so called by the angel before he was conceived in the womb.22 And when the days of their purification according to the law of Moses were fulfilled, they brought him up to Jerusalem, to present him to the Lord23 (as it is written in the law of the Lord, Every male that openeth the womb shall be called holy to the Lord),24 and to offer a sacrifice according to that which is said in the law of the Lord, A pair of turtledoves, or two young pigeons.25 And behold, there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon; and this man was righteous and devout, looking for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Spirit was upon him.26 And it had been revealed unto him by the Holy Spirit, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord’s Christ.27 And he came in the Spirit into the temple: and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, that they might do concerning him after the custom of the law,28 then he received him into his arms, and blessed God, and said,

29 Now lettest thou thy servant depart, Lord, According to thy word, in peace;

30 For mine eyes have seen thy salvation,

31 Which thou hast prepared before the face of all peoples;

32 A light for revelation to the Gentiles, And the glory of thy people Israel.

33 And his father and his mother were marvelling at the things which were spoken concerning him;34 and Simeon blessed them, and said unto Mary his mother, Behold, this child is set for the falling and the rising of many in Israel; and for a sign which is spoken against;35 yea and a sword shall pierce through thine own soul; that thoughts out of many hearts may be revealed.36 And there was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher (she was of a great age, having lived with a husband seven years from her virginity,37 and she had been a widow even unto fourscore and four years), who departed not from the temple, worshipping with fastings and supplications night and day.38 And coming up at that very hour she gave thanks unto God, and spake of him to all them that were looking for the redemption of Jerusalem.39 And when they had accomplished all things that were according to the law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee, to their own city Nazareth.40 And the child grew, and waxed strong, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him.41 And his parents went every year to Jerusalem at the feast of the passover.42 And when he was twelve years old, they went up after the custom of the feast;43 and when they had fulfilled the days, as they were returning, the boy Jesus tarried behind in Jerusalem; and his parents knew it not;44 but supposing him to be in the company, they went a day’s journey; and they sought for him among their kinsfolk and acquaintance:45 and when they found him not, they returned to Jerusalem, seeking for him.46 And it came to pass, after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, both hearing them, and asking them questions:47 and all that heard him were amazed at his understanding and his answers.48 And when they saw him, they were astonished; and his mother said unto him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I sought thee sorrowing.49 And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? knew ye not that I must be in my Father’s house?50 And they understood not the saying which he spake unto them.51 And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth; and he was subject unto them: and his mother kept all these sayings in her heart.52 And Jesus advanced in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.

누가복음 2

1 그 무렵 아우구스투스황제가 로마 제국 전역에 인구 조사를 하라는 명령을 내 렸다.

2 이 인구 조사는 구레뇨가 시리아의 총독으로 있을 때 처음으로 실시한 것이었다.

3 그래서 사람들은 본적지에 등록하려고 모두 고향으로 돌아갔다.

4 요셉도 다윗의 집안 사람이었으므로 갈릴리 나사렛에서 다윗의 마을인 유대 베들레헴으로 올라갔다.

5 요셉이 약혼한 마리아와 함께 본적지에 등록하러 갈 때 마리아는 이미 임신중이었는데

6 그들이 베들레헴에 도착했을 때 해산 날이 찼다.

7 여관에는 사람이 다 차서 있을 곳이 없었으므로 그들은 마구간에 머물게 되었다. 거기서 마리아는 첫아들을 낳아 포대기에 싸서 구유에 뉘었다.

8 바로 그 부근 들판에는 목자들이 밤을 새워가며 양떼를 지키고 있었다.

9 그때 갑자기 천사가 나타나 그들 곁에 서고 주의 영광의 광채가 그들 주변에 비치었다. 이 광경을 보고 목자들이 몹시 무서워하자

10 천사가 그들에게 말하였다. “무서워하지 말아라. 내가 너희에게 모든 백성들이 크게 기뻐할 좋은 소식을 알린다.

11 오늘 밤 다윗의 동네에 너희를 위하여 구주가 나셨으니 그분이 곧 그리스도 주님이시다.

12 그 증거로서 너희는 포대기에 싸여 구유에 뉘어 있는 갓난아기를 볼 것이다.”

13 그러자 갑자기 수많은 하늘의 군대가 나타나 그 천사와 함께

14 “가장 높은 하늘에서는 하나님께 영광! 땅에서는 하나님의 은총을 받은 사람들에게 평화!” 하며 하나님을 찬송하였다.

15 천사들이 떠나 하늘로 올라간 뒤에 목자들이 “자, 어서 베들레헴으로 가서 주님께서 알려 주신 일을 보자” 하며

16 달려가 보니 갓난아기가 구유에 뉘어 있었고 마리아와 요셉도 함께 있었다.

17 아기를 본 목자들이 천사들에게 들은 말을 여러 사람들에게 이야기하자

18 듣는 사람들이 다 목자들의 말에 놀라는 표정이었으나

19 마리아는 이 모든 말을 마음에 새겨 깊이 생각하였다.

20 목자들은 듣고 본 모든 일이 천사들에게 들은 것과 같았으므로 하나님께 영광을 돌리고 찬송하면서 돌아갔다.

21 아기가 난 지 8일 만인 2할례식 날 천사가 전에 일러 준 대로 그 이름을 ‘예수’라고 지었다.

22 모세의 법대로 아기에게 정결 의식을 행하는 날이 되었다. 그래서 부모가 아기를 데리고 예루살렘으로 올라갔다.

23-24 이것은 주님의 율법에 3“첫아들을 거룩하게 구별하여 주께 드려라” 고 기록된 말씀대로 아기를 주님께 드리고 또 주님의 율법에 말씀하신 대로 4“산비둘기 두 마리나 집비둘기 새끼 두 마리”로 제사를 드리기 위해서였다.

25-26 그때 예루살렘에 시므온이란 의롭고 경건한 사람이 살고 있었다. 그는 함께 계신 성령님으로부터 살아서 그리스도를 뵈올 것이라는 계시를 받고 이스라엘의 위로가 되실 그분을 간절히 기다리고 있었다.

27 시므온이 성령님의 인도로 성전에 들어가자 마침 부모가 정결 의식을 행하려고 아기 예수를 데리고 들어왔다.

28 시므온은 아기를 안고 이렇게 하나님을 찬양하였다.

29 “주권자이신 주님, 이제는 약속하신 대로 이 종을 놓아 주셔서 내가 평안히 떠날 수 있게 되었습니다.

30 내 눈으로 직접 본 주님의 이 구원은

31 모든 사람들에게 베푸신 것으로

32 이방인들에게는 5주님의 뜻을 보여 주는 빛이며 주님의 백성 이스라엘에게는 영광된 것입니다.”

33 그 부모는 아기에 대한 말을 듣고 신기하게 여겼다.

34 시므온은 그들에게 축복하고 아기 어머니 마리아에게 이런 말을 하였다. “이 아기는 하나님이 세우신 자입니다. 많은 이스라엘 사람들은 이 아기를 믿지 않아 망하기도 하고 믿어서 구원을 받기도 할 것입니다. 그리고 이 아기는 사람들의 비난의 대상이 될 것이며

35 그때 당신은 마치 예리한 칼에 찔리듯 마음이 아플 것입니다. 그러나 그들의 숨겨진 생각은 다 드러날 것입니다.”

36 또 안나라는 나이 많은 예언자가 있었다. 그녀는 아셀 지파에 속한 바누엘의 딸이었는데 결혼하여 7년 동안 살다가

37 과부가 되었다. 그로부터 그녀는 6여든 네 살이 되기까지 성전을 떠나지 않고 밤낮 금식하고 기도하며 하나님을 섬겼다.

38 마침 이 시간에 그녀는 성전에 들어와서 하나님께 감사를 드리고 7구세주를 기다리는 모든 사람에게 아기 예수님에 대한 이야기를 해 주었다.

나사렛 귀환

39 아기의 부모는 율법에 따라 모든 의식을 마치고 고향인 갈릴리 나사렛으로 돌 아갔다.

40 아기는 하나님의 은혜 가운데서 무럭무럭 자라나 튼튼해지고 지혜가 넘쳤다.

41 해마다 8유월절이 되면 예수님의 부모는 예루살렘으로 올라갔다.

42 예수님이 열두 살 되던 해에도 그들은 전과 같이 예루살렘으로 올라갔다.

43 명절 기간이 끝나고 집으로 돌아갈 때 어린 예수님은 예루살렘에 그냥 머물러 있었다. 부모는 이것도 모르고

44 예수님이 일행 가운데 있으려니 하고 하룻길을 간 후에 친척들과 아는 사람들 가운데서 찾아보았다.

45 그러나 찾지 못하자 그들은 예수님을 찾으러 예루살렘으로 되돌아갔다.

46 그들은 3일 후에 성전에서 예수님을 만났다. 그는 선생들 가운데 앉아서 듣기도 하고 묻기도 했으며

47 그의 말을 듣는 사람들은 다 그의 총명함과 대답하는 말에 감탄하였다.

48 그리고 그의 부모도 그를 보고 놀랐다. 이때 예수님의 어머니가 “얘야, 이게 무슨 짓이냐? 네 아버지와 내가 너를 찾느라고 무척이나 애썼단다” 하자

49 예수님은 “왜 나를 찾으셨습니까? 내가 내 아버지의 집에 있어야 한다는 것을 모르셨습니까?” 하고 대답하였다.

50 그러나 부모는 그 말뜻을 깨닫지 못하였다.

51 그러고서 예수님은 함께 나사렛으로 돌아가 부모에게 순종하며 살았고 그의 어머니는 이 모든 일을 마음에 새겨 두었다.

52 예수님은 지혜와 키가 점점 자라고 하나님과 사람들에게 더욱 사랑을 받았다.
