Matthew 9

1 And he entered into a boat, and crossed over, and came into his own city.2 And behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, be of good cheer; thy sins are forgiven.3 And behold, certain of the scribes said within themselves, This man blasphemeth.4 And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts?5 For which is easier, to say, Thy sins are forgiven; or to say, Arise, and walk?6 But that ye may know that the Son of man hath authority on earth to forgive sins (then saith he to the sick of the palsy), Arise, and take up thy bed, and go up unto thy house.7 And he arose, and departed to his house.8 But when the multitudes saw it, they were afraid, and glorified God, who had given such authority unto men.

9 And as Jesus passed by from thence, he saw a man, called Matthew, sitting at the place of toll: and he saith unto him, Follow me. And he arose, and followed him.

10 And it came to pass, as he sat at meat in the house, behold, many publicans and sinners came and sat down with Jesus and his disciples.11 And when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto his disciples, Why eateth your Teacher with the publicans and sinners?12 But when he heard it, he said, They that are whole have no need of a physician, but they that are sick.13 But go ye and learn what this meaneth, I desire mercy, and not sacrifice, for I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.

14 Then come to him the disciples of John, saying, Why do we and the Pharisees fast oft, but thy disciples fast not?15 And Jesus said unto them, Can the sons of the bridechamber mourn, as long as the bridegroom is with them? but the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then will they fast.16 And no man putteth a piece of undressed cloth upon an old garment; for that which should fill it up taketh from the garment, and a worse rent is made.17 Neither do men put new wine into old wine-skins: else the skins burst, and the wine is spilled, and the skins perish: but they put new wine into fresh wine-skins, and both are preserved.

18 While he spake these things unto them, behold, there came a ruler, and worshipped him, saying, My daughter is even now dead: but come and lay thy hand upon her, and she shall live.19 And Jesus arose, and followed him, and so did his disciples.20 And behold, a woman, who had an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the border of his garment:21 for she said within herself, If I do but touch his garment, I shall be made whole.22 But Jesus turning and seeing her said, Daughter, be of good cheer; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour.23 And when Jesus came into the ruler’s house, and saw the flute-players, and the crowd making a tumult,24 he said, Give place: for the damsel is not dead, but sleepeth. And they laughed him to scorn.25 But when the crowd was put forth, he entered in, and took her by the hand; and the damsel arose.26 And the fame hereof went forth into all that land.

27 And as Jesus passed by from thence, two blind men followed him, crying out, and saying, Have mercy on us, thou son of David.28 And when he was come into the house, the blind men came to him: and Jesus saith unto them, Believe ye that I am able to do this? They say unto him, Yea, Lord.29 Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it done unto you.30 And their eyes were opened. And Jesus strictly charged them, saying, See that no man know it.31 But they went forth, and spread abroad his fame in all that land.

32 And as they went forth, behold, there was brought to him a dumb man possessed with a demon.33 And when the demon was cast out, the dumb man spake: and the multitudes marvelled, saying, It was never so seen in Israel.34 But the Pharisees said, By the prince of the demons casteth he out demons.

35 And Jesus went about all the cities and the villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of disease and all manner of sickness.36 But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion for them, because they were distressed and scattered, as sheep not having a shepherd.37 Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest indeed is plenteous, but the laborers are few.38 Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he send forth laborers into his harvest.

중풍병 환자를 고치시다

(막 2:1-12; 눅 5:17-26)

1  예수께서 배에 오르셔서, 바다를 건너 자기 마을에 돌아오셨다. 2 사람들이 중풍병 환자 한 사람을, 침상에 누인 채로, 예수께로 날라 왔다. 예수께서 그들의 믿음을 보시고, 중풍병 환자에게 말씀하셨다. “기운을 내라, 아이야. 네 죄가 용서받았다.” 3 그런데 율법학자 몇이 ‘이 사람이 하나님을 모독하는구나’ 하고 속으로 말하였다. 4 예수께서 그들의 생각을 아시고 말씀하셨다. “어찌하여 너희는 마음 속에 악한 생각을 품고 있느냐? 5 ‘네 죄가 용서받았다’ 하고 말하는 것과 ‘일어나서 걸어가거라’ 하고 말하는 것 가운데서, 어느 쪽이 더 말하기가 쉬우냐? 6 그러나 인자가 땅에서 죄를 용서하는 권세를 가지고 있음을 너희들이 알게 하겠다.” 그리고 예수께서 중풍병 환자에게 “일어나서, 네 침상을 거두어 가지고 집으로 가거라” 하시니, 7 그가 일어나서, 자기 집으로 돌아갔다. 8 무리가 이 일을 보고서, 두려움에 사로잡히고, 이런 권한을 사람들에게 주신 하나님께 영광을 돌렸다.

마태를 부르시다

(막 2:13-17; 눅 5:27-32)

9  예수께서 거기에서 떠나서 길을 가시다가, 마태라는 사람이 세관에 앉아 있는 것을 보시고 말씀하셨다. “나를 따라오너라.” 그는 일어나서, 예수를 따라갔다. 10  예수께서 집에서 t음식을 드시는데, 많은 세리와 죄인이 와서, 예수와 그 제자들과 t자리를 같이 하였다. 11 바리새파 사람들이 이것을 보고, 예수의 제자들에게 말하였다. “어찌하여 당신네 선생은 세리와 죄인과 어울려서 음식을 드시오?” 12 예수께서 그 말을 들으시고서 말씀하셨다. “건강한 사람에게는 의사가 필요하지 않으나, 병든 사람에게는 필요하다. 13 너희는 가서 t‘내가 바라는 것은 자비요, 희생제물이 아니다’ 하신 말씀이 무슨 뜻인지 배워라. 나는 의인을 부르러 온 것이 아니라, 죄인을 부르러 왔다.”

금식 논쟁

(막 2:18-22; 눅 5:33-39)

14 그 때에 요한의 제자들이 예수께 와서 물었다. “우리와 바리새파 사람은 t자주 금식을 하는데, 왜 선생님의 제자들은 금식을 하지 않습니까?” 15 예수께서 그들에게 말씀하셨다. “혼인 잔치의 손님들이 신랑이 자기들과 함께 있는 동안에 슬퍼할 수 있느냐? 그러나 신랑을 빼앗길 날이 올 터이니, 그 때에는 그들이 금식할 것이다. 16 생베 조각을 낡은 옷에다 대고 깁는 사람은 없다. 그렇게 하면, 새로 댄 조각이 그 옷을 당겨서, 더욱더 크게 찢어진다. 17 새 포도주를 낡은 가죽 부대에 담는 사람은 없다. 그렇게 하면, 가죽 부대가 터져서, 포도주는 쏟아지고, 가죽 부대는 못 쓰게 된다. 새 포도주는 새 가죽 부대에 담아야 둘 다 보존된다.”

어느 지도자의 딸과 혈루증에 걸린 여자

(막 5:21-43; 눅 8:40-56)

18  예수께서 이 말씀을 하실 때에, 지도자 한 사람이 와서, 예수께 무릎을 꿇고 말하였다. “내 딸이 방금 죽었습니다. 그러나 오셔서, 그 아이에게 손을 얹어 주십시오. 그러면 살아날 것입니다.” 19 예수께서 일어나서 그를 따라가셨고, 제자들도 뒤따라갔다. 20 그런데 열두 해 동안 혈루증으로 앓는 여자가 뒤에서 예수께로 다가와서, 예수의 옷술에 손을 대었다. 21 그 여자는 속으로 말하기를 “내가 그의 옷에 손을 대기만 하여도 나을 텐데!” 했던 것이다. 22 예수께서 돌아서서, 그 여자를 보시고 말씀하셨다. “기운을 내어라, 딸아. 네 믿음이 너를 구원하였다.” 바로 그 때에 그 여자가 나았다. 23  예수께서 그 지도자의 집에 이르러서, 피리를 부는 사람들과 떠드는 무리를 보시고, 24 이렇게 말씀하셨다. “모두 물러가거라. 그 소녀는 죽은 것이 아니라, 자고 있다.” 그들은 예수를 비웃었다. 25 무리를 내보낸 다음에, 예수께서 들어가셔서, 그 소녀의 손을 잡으시니, 그 소녀가 벌떡 일어났다. 26 이 소문이 그 온 땅에 퍼졌다.

눈 먼 두 사람이 고침을 받다

27  예수께서 거기에서 떠나가시는데, 눈 먼 사람 둘이 “다윗의 자손이여, 우리를 불쌍히 여겨 주십시오” 하고 외치면서 t예수를 뒤따라 왔다. 28 예수께서 집 안으로 들어가셨는데, 그 눈 먼 사람들이 그에게 나아왔다. 예수께서 그들에게 말씀하셨다. “너희는 내가 이 일을 할 수 있다고 믿느냐?” 그들이 “예, 주님!” 하고 대답하였다. 29 예수께서 그들의 눈에 손을 대시고 말씀하셨다. “너희 믿음대로 되어라.” 30 그러자 그들의 눈이 열렸다. 예수께서 그들에게 엄중히 다짐하셨다. “이 일을 아무에게도 알리지 말아라.” 31 그러나 그들은 나가서, 예수의 소문을 그 온 지역에 퍼뜨렸다.

말 못하는 사람을 고치시다

32 그들이 떠나간 뒤에, 귀신이 들려 말 못하는 한 사람을 사람들이 예수께 데리고 왔다. 33 귀신이 쫓겨나니, 말 못하는 그 사람이 말을 하게 되었다. 무리가 놀라서 말하였다. “이런 것은 이스라엘에서 처음 보는 일이다.” t 34 그러나 바리새파 사람들은 “그는 귀신의 두목의 힘을 빌어서 귀신을 쫓아낸다” 하고 말하였다.

목자 없는 양

35  예수께서는 모든 도시와 마을을 두루 다니시면서, 유대 사람의 여러 회당에서 가르치며, 하늘 나라의 복음을 선포하며, 온갖 질병과 온갖 아픔을 고쳐 주셨다. 36 예수께서 무리를 보시고, 그들을 불쌍히 여기셨다. 그들은 마치 목자 없는 양과 같이, 고생에 지쳐서 기운이 빠져 있었기 때문이다. 37 그래서 제자들에게 말씀하셨다. “추수할 것은 많은데, 일꾼이 적다. 38 그러므로 너희는 추수하는 주인에게 일꾼들을 그의 추수밭으로 보내시라고 청하여라.”
