Nehemiah 12
1 Now these are the priests and the Levites that went up with Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua: Seraiah, Jeremiah, Ezra,2 Amariah, Malluch, Hattush,3 Shecaniah, Rehum, Meremoth,4 Iddo, Ginnethoi, Abijah,5 Mijamin, Maadiah, Bilgah,6 Shemaiah, and Joiarib, Jedaiah.7 Sallu, Amok, Hilkiah, Jedaiah. These were the chiefs of the priests and of their brethren in the days of Jeshua.8 Moreover the Levites: Jeshua, Binnui, Kadmiel, Sherebiah, Judah, and Mattaniah, who was over the thanksgiving, he and his brethren.9 Also Bakbukiah and Unno, their brethren, were over against them according to their offices.10 And Jeshua begat Joiakim, and Joiakim begat Eliashib, and Eliashib begat Joiada,11 and Joiada begat Jonathan, and Jonathan begat Jaddua.12 And in the days of Joiakim were priests, heads of fathers’ houses: of Seraiah, Meraiah; of Jeremiah, Hananiah;13 of Ezra, Meshullam; of Amariah, Jehohanan;14 of Malluchi, Jonathan; of Shebaniah, Joseph;15 of Harim, Adna; of Meraioth, Helkai;16 of Iddo, Zechariah; of Ginnethon, Meshullam;17 of Abijah, Zichri; of Miniamin, of Moadiah, Piltai;18 of Bilgah, Shammua; of Shemaiah, Jehonathan;19 and of Joiarib, Mattenai; of Jedaiah, Uzzi;20 of Sallai, Kallai; of Amok, Eber;21 of Hilkiah, Hashabiah; of Jedaiah, Nethanel.22 As for the Levites, in the days of Eliashib, Joiada, and Johanan, and Jaddua, there were recorded the heads of fathers’ houses; also the priests, in the reign of Darius the Persian.23 The sons of Levi, heads of fathers’ houses, were written in the book of the chronicles, even until the days of Johanan the son of Eliashib.24 And the chiefs of the Levites: Hashabiah, Sherebiah, and Jeshua the son of Kadmiel, with their brethren over against them, to praise and give thanks, according to the commandment of David the man of God, watch next to watch.25 Mattaniah, and Bakbukiah, Obadiah, Meshullam, Talmon, Akkub, were porters keeping the watch at the store-houses of the gates.26 These were in the days of Joiakim the son of Jeshua, the son of Jozadak, and in the days of Nehemiah the governor, and of Ezra the priest the scribe.27 And at the dedication of the wall of Jerusalem they sought the Levites out of all their places, to bring them to Jerusalem, to keep the dedication with gladness, both with thanksgivings, and with singing, with cymbals, psalteries, and with harps.28 And the sons of the singers gathered themselves together, both out of the plain round about Jerusalem, and from the villages of the Netophathites;29 also from Beth-gilgal, and out of the fields of Geba and Azmaveth: for the singers had builded them villages round about Jerusalem.30 And the priests and the Levites purified themselves; and they purified the people, and the gates, and the wall.31 Then I brought up the princes of Judah upon the wall, and appointed two great companies that gave thanks and went in procession; whereof one went on the right hand upon the wall toward the dung gate:32 and after them went Hoshaiah, and half of the princes of Judah,33 and Azariah, Ezra, and Meshullam,34 Judah, and Benjamin, and Shemaiah, and Jeremiah,35 and certain of the priests’ sons with trumpets: Zechariah the son of Jonathan, the son of Shemaiah, the son of Mattaniah, the son of Micaiah, the son of Zaccur, the son of Asaph;36 and his brethren, Shemaiah, and Azarel, Milalai, Gilalai, Maai, Nethanel, and Judah, Hanani, with the musical instruments of David the man of God; and Ezra the scribe was before them.37 And by the fountain gate, and straight before them, they went up by the stairs of the city of David, at the ascent of the wall, above the house of David, even unto the water gate eastward.38 And the other company of them that gave thanks went to meet them, and I after them, with the half of the people, upon the wall, above the tower of the furnaces, even unto the broad wall,39 and above the gate of Ephraim, and by the old gate, and by the fish gate, and the tower of Hananel, and the tower of Hammeah, even unto the sheep gate: and they stood still in the gate of the guard.40 So stood the two companies of them that gave thanks in the house of God, and I, and the half of the rulers with me;41 and the priests, Eliakim, Maaseiah, Miniamin, Micaiah, Elioenai, Zechariah, and Hananiah, with trumpets;42 and Maaseiah, and Shemaiah, and Eleazar, and Uzzi, and Jehohanan, and Malchijah, and Elam, and Ezer. And the singers sang loud, with Jezrahiah their overseer.43 And they offered great sacrifices that day, and rejoiced; for God had made them rejoice with great joy; and the women also and the children rejoiced: so that the joy of Jerusalem was heard even afar off.44 And on that day were men appointed over the chambers for the treasures, for the heave-offerings, for the first-fruits, and for the tithes, to gather into them, according to the fields of the cities, the portions appointed by the law for the priests and Levites: for Judah rejoiced for the priests and for the Levites that waited.45 And they kept the charge of their God, and the charge of the purification, and so did the singers and the porters, according to the commandment of David, and of Solomon his son.46 For in the days of David and Asaph of old there was a chief of the singers, and songs of praise and thanksgiving unto God.47 And all Israel in the days of Zerubbabel, and in the days of Nehemiah, gave the portions of the singers and the porters, as every day required: and they set apart that which was for the Levites; and the Levites set apart that which was for the sons of Aaron.

스알디엘의 아들 스룹바벨과 예수아를 따라서 함께 돌아온 제사장과 레위 사람들은 다음과 같다.
제사장은 스라야와 예레미야와 에스라와 2 아마랴와 말룩과 핫두스와 3 스가냐와 르훔과 므레못과 4 잇도와 긴느도이와 아비야와 5 미야민과 마아댜와 빌가와 6 스마야와 요야립과 여다야와 7 살루와 아목과 힐기야와 여다야이다. 이들은 예수아 때의 제사장 가문의 우두머리와 그 동료들이다.

레위 사람은 예수아와 빈누이와 갓미엘과 세레뱌와 유다와 맛다니야이고 그 가운데서 맛다니야는 그의 동료들과 함께 찬양대를 맡았다. 9 그들의 동료 박부갸와 운노는 예배를 드릴 때에 그들과 마주 보고 섰다.

요야김 때의 제사장 가문의 우두머리들은 다음과 같다. 스라야 가문에서는 므라야요, 예레미야 가문에서는 하나냐요, 13 에스라 가문에서는 므술람이요, 아마랴 가문에서는 여호하난이요, 14 말루기 가문에서는 요나단이요, 스바냐 가문에서는 요셉이요, 15 하림 가문에서는 아드나요, 므라욧 가문에서는 헬개요, 16 잇도 가문에서는 스가랴요, 긴느돈 가문에서는 므술람이요, 17 아비야 가문에서는 시그리요, 미냐민과 모아댜 가문에서는 빌대요, 18 빌가 가문에서는 삼무아요, 스마야 가문에서는 여호나단이요, 19 요야립 가문에서는 맛드내요, 여다야 가문에서는 웃시요, 20 살래 가문에서는 갈래요, 아목 가문에서는 에벨이요, 21 힐기야 가문에서는 하사뱌요, 여다야 가문에서는 느다넬이다.

엘리아십과 요야다와 요하난과 얏두아 때의 레위 사람 가운데서, 가문별 우두머리들의 이름과 제사장들의 이름은, 다리우스가 페르시아를 다스릴 때의 왕실 일지에 기록되어 있다. 23 레위의 자손 가운데 엘리아십의 아들인 요하난 때까지의 각 가문의 우두머리의 이름도 왕실 일지에 기록되어 있다.
성전에서 맡은 임무

레위 사람의 우두머리는 하사뱌와 세레뱌와 갓미엘의 아들 예수아이다. 예배를 드릴 때에, 그들은, 하나님의 사람 다윗 왕이 지시한 대로, 동료 레위 사람들과 함께 둘로 나뉘어 서로 마주 보고 서서 화답하면서, 하나님께 찬양과 감사를 드렸다.

맛다니야와 박부갸와 오바댜와 므술람과 달몬과 악굽은 성전 문지기이다. 이들은 성전으로 들어가는 각 문들에 딸린 창고를 지켰다. 26 이 사람들은 모두, 요사닥의 손자이자 예수아의 아들인 요야김과, 총독 느헤미야와, 학자인 에스라 제사장 시대에 활동한 사람들이다.
느헤미야가 성벽을 봉헌하다

예루살렘 성벽이 완성되어서, 봉헌식을 하게 되었다. 사람들은 곳곳에서 레위 사람을 찾아내어, 예루살렘으로 데려왔다. 감사의 찬송을 부르며, 심벌즈를 치며, 거문고와 수금을 타며, 즐겁게 봉헌식을 하려는 것이었다. 28 이에 노래하는 사람들이 예루살렘 주변 여러 마을 곧 느도바 사람들이 사는 마을과 29 벳길갈과 게바와 아스마웻 들판에서 모여들었다. 이 노래하는 사람들은 예루살렘 주변에 마을을 이루고 살았다. 30 제사장들과 레위 사람들은 몸을 깨끗하게 하는 예식을 치른 다음에, 백성과 성문들과 성벽을 깨끗하게 하는 예식을 올렸다.
31 나는 유다 지도자들을 성벽 위로 올라오게 하고, 감사의 찬송을 부를 큰 찬양대를 두 편으로 나누어 서게 하였다. 한 찬양대는, 오른쪽으로 ‘거름 문’ 쪽을 보고 성곽 위로 행진하게 하였다. 32 호세야가 이끄는 유다 지도자의 절반이 그 뒤를 따르고, 33 또 아사랴와 에스라와 므술람과 34 유다와 베냐민과 스마야와 예레미야가 따랐다. 35 그 뒤로 일부 제사장들이 나팔을 들고 따르고, 그 다음에 스가랴가 따랐다. 그의 아버지는 요나단이요, 그 윗대는 스마야요, 그 윗대는 맛다니야요, 그 윗대는 미가야요, 그 윗대는 삭굴이요, 그 윗대는 아삽이다. 36 그 뒤로는 스가랴의 형제인 스마야와 아사렐과 밀랄래와 길랄래와 마애와 느다넬과 유다와 하나니가 하나님의 사람 다윗이 만든 악기를 들고 따랐다. 서기관 에스라가 그 행렬을 이끌었다. 37 그들은 ‘샘 문’에서 곧바로 다윗 성 계단 위로 올라가서, 성곽을 타고 계속 행진하여, 다윗 궁을 지나 동쪽 ‘수문’에 이르렀다.
38 다른 한 찬양대는 반대쪽으로 행진하게 하였다. 나는 백성의 절반과 더불어 그 뒤를 따라서 성벽 위로 올라갔다. 이 행렬은 ‘풀무 망대’를 지나서, ‘넓은 벽’에 이르렀다가, 39 ‘에브라임 문’ 위를 지나, ‘옛 문’과 ‘물고기 문’과 ‘하나넬 망대’와 ‘함메아 망대’를 지나서, ‘양 문’에까지 이르러 성전으로 들어가는 문에서 멈추었다.
40 감사의 찬송을 부르는 두 찬양대는 하나님의 성전에 들어가 멈추어 섰다. 나 역시 백성의 지도자 절반과 함께 하나님의 성전에 들어가 섰다. 41 제사장 엘리야김과 마아세야와 미냐민과 미가야와 엘료에내와 스가랴와 하나냐는 다 나팔을 들고 있고, 42 마아세야와 스마야와 엘르아살과 웃시와 여호하난과 말기야와 엘람과 에셀이 함께 서 있었으며, 노래하는 이들은 예스라히야의 지휘에 따라서 노래를 불렀다. 43 그 날, 사람들은 많은 제물로 제사를 드리면서 기뻐하였다. 하나님이 그들을 그렇게 기쁘게 하셨으므로, 여자들과 아이들까지도 함께 기뻐하니, 예루살렘에서 기뻐하는 소리가 멀리까지 울려 퍼졌다.
백성들이 제사장과 레위 사람에게 준 몫
44 그 날, 사람들은 헌납물과 처음 거둔 소산과 십일조 등을 보관하는 창고를 맡을 관리인을 세웠다. 유다 사람들은, 직무를 수행하는 제사장들과 레위 사람들이 고마워서, 관리인들을 세우고, 율법에 정한 대로, 제사장과 레위 사람에게 돌아갈 몫을 성읍에 딸린 밭에서 거두어들여서, 각 창고에 보관하는 일을 맡겼다. 45 제사장들과 레위 사람들은 하나님을 섬기는 일과 정결예식을 베푸는 일을 맡았다. 노래하는 사람들과 성전 문지기들도 다윗과 그의 아들 솔로몬이 지시한 대로 맡은 일을 하였다. 46 옛적 다윗과 아삽 때에도 합창 지휘자들이 있어서, 노래를 불러 하나님께 찬양과 감사를 드렸다. 47 스룹바벨과 느헤미야 때에도, 온 이스라엘이 노래하는 이들과 성전 문지기들에게 날마다 쓸 몫을 주었다. 백성은 레위 사람들에게 돌아갈 거룩한 몫을 떼어 놓았고, 레위 사람들은 다시 거기에서 아론의 자손에게 돌아갈 몫을 구별하여 놓았다.
