1 And Jehovah spake unto Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, in the tent of meeting, on the first day of the second month, in the second year after they were come out of the land of Egypt, saying,2 Take ye the sum of all the congregation of the children of Israel, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, every male, by their polls;3 from twenty years old and upward, all that are able to go forth to war in Israel, thou and Aaron shall number them by their hosts.4 And with you there shall be a man of every tribe; every one head of his fathers’ house.5 And these are the names of the men that shall stand with you. Of Reuben: Elizur the son of Shedeur.6 Of Simeon: Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai.7 Of Judah: Nahshon the son of Amminadab.8 Of Issachar: Nethanel the son of Zuar.9 Of Zebulun: Eliab the son of Helon.10 Of the children of Joseph: Of Ephraim: Elishama the son of Ammihud. Of Manasseh: Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur.11 Of Benjamin: Abidan the son of Gideoni.12 Of Dan: Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai.13 Of Asher: Pagiel the son of Ochran.14 Of Gad: Eliasaph the son of Deuel.15 Of Naphtali: Ahira the son of Enan.16 These are they that were called of the congregation, the princes of the tribes of their fathers; they were the heads of the thousands of Israel.17 And Moses and Aaron took these men that are mentioned by name:18 And they assembled all the congregation together on the first day of the second month; and they declared their pedigrees after their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, by their polls.19 As Jehovah commanded Moses, so he numbered them in the wilderness of Sinai.

20 And the children of Reuben, Israel’s first-born, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, by their polls, every male from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;21 those that were numbered of them, of the tribe of Reuben, were forty and six thousand and five hundred.

22 Of the children of Simeon, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, those that were numbered thereof, according to the number of the names, by their polls, every male from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;23 those that were numbered of them, of the tribe of Simeon, were fifty and nine thousand and three hundred.

24 Of the children of Gad, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;25 those that were numbered of them, of the tribe of Gad, were forty and five thousand six hundred and fifty.26 Of the children of Judah, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;27 those that were numbered of them, of the tribe of Judah, were threescore and fourteen thousand and six hundred.

28 Of the children of Issachar, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;29 those that were numbered of them, of the tribe of Issachar, were fifty and four thousand and four hundred.

30 Of the children of Zebulun, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;31 those that were numbered of them, of the tribe of Zebulun, were fifty and seven thousand and four hundred.

32 Of the children of Joseph, namely, of the children of Ephraim, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;33 those that were numbered of them, of the tribe of Ephraim, were forty thousand and five hundred.

34 Of the children of Manasseh, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;35 those that were numbered of them, of the tribe of Manasseh, were thirty and two thousand and two hundred.

36 Of the children of Benjamin, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;37 those that were numbered of them, of the tribe of Benjamin, were thirty and five thousand and four hundred.

38 Of the children of Dan, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;39 those that were numbered of them, of the tribe of Dan, were threescore and two thousand and seven hundred.

40 Of the children of Asher, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;41 those that were numbered of them, of the tribe of Asher, were forty and one thousand and five hundred.

42 Of the children of Naphtali, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;43 those that were numbered of them, of the tribe of Naphtali, were fifty and three thousand and four hundred.

44 These are they that were numbered, whom Moses and Aaron numbered, and the princes of Israel, being twelve men: they were each one for his fathers’ house.45 So all they that were numbered of the children of Israel by their fathers’ houses, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war in Israel;46 even all they that were numbered were six hundred thousand and three thousand and five hundred and fifty.

47 But the Levites after the tribe of their fathers were not numbered among them.48 For Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying,49 Only the tribe of Levi thou shalt not number, neither shalt thou take the sum of them among the children of Israel;50 but appoint thou the Levites over the tabernacle of the testimony, and over all the furniture thereof, and over all that belongeth to it: they shall bear the tabernacle, and all the furniture thereof; and they shall minister unto it, and shall encamp round about the tabernacle.51 And when the tabernacle setteth forward, the Levites shall take it down; and when the tabernacle is to be pitched, the Levites shall set it up: and the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death.52 And the children of Israel shall pitch their tents, every man by his own camp, and every man by his own standard, according to their hosts.53 But the Levites shall encamp round about the tabernacle of the testimony, that there be no wrath upon the congregation of the children of Israel: and the Levites shall keep the charge of the tabernacle of the testimony.54 Thus did the children of Israel; according to all that Jehovah commanded Moses, so did they.

1  이스라엘 자손이 이집트 땅에서 나온 지 이 년이 되던 해 t둘째 달 초하루에, 주님께서 시내 광야의 t회막에서 모세에게 말씀하셨다. 2 “t너희는 이스라엘 자손의 온 회중을 각 가문별, 가족별로 인구를 조사하여라. 남자의 경우는 그 머리 수대로 하나하나 모두 올려 명단을 만들어라. 3 너는 아론과 함께, 이스라엘 사람 가운데서 스무 살이 넘어 군대에 입대할 수 있는 남자들을, 모두 각 부대별로 세어라. 4 각 지파에서 한 사람씩, 곧 한 가족에서 지도자가 한 사람씩 나오게 하여 너희를 돕게 하여라. 5 다음은 너희 곁에 서서 너희를 도울 사람들의 이름이다.” “르우벤 지파에서는 스데울의 아들 엘리술이요, 6  시므온 지파에서는 수리삿대의 아들 슬루미엘이요, 7  유다 지파에서는 암미나답의 아들 나손이요, 8  잇사갈 지파에서는 수알의 아들 느다넬이요, 9  스불론 지파에서는 헬론의 아들 엘리압이요, 10  요셉의 아들들 가운데, 에브라임 지파에서는 암미훗의 아들 엘리사마요, 므낫세 지파에서는 브다술의 아들 가말리엘이요, 11  베냐민 지파에서는 기드오니의 아들 아비단이요, 12  단 지파에서는 암미삿대의 아들 아히에셀이요, 13  아셀 지파에서는 오그란의 아들 바기엘이요, 14  갓 지파에서는 t르우엘의 아들 엘리아삽이요, 15  납달리 지파에서는 에난의 아들 아히라이다.” 16 이들은 회중이 추대하여, 조상 때부터 내려온 각 지파의 지도자가 된 사람들이다. 이 사람들이 바로 이스라엘 군대 각 부대의 지휘관이다. 17  모세와 아론은 임명받은 이 사람들을 거느리고 18 둘째 달 초하루에 전체 회중을 불러모았다. 회중들은 모두 가문별, 가족별로 등록하였다. 스무 살이 넘은 남자는, 모두 그 머리 수대로 하나하나 명단에 올렸다. 19 이것은 주님께서 모세에게 명하신 대로 한 것이다. 모세가 시내 광야에서 그들의 수를 세었다. 20  이스라엘의 맏아들 르우벤의 자손 가운데서, 군대에 입대할 수 있는, 스무 살이 넘은 모든 남자를, 각각 가문별, 가족별로, 그 머리 수대로, 하나하나 명단에 올렸다. 21 르우벤 지파에서 등록된 사람의 수는 사만 육천오백 명이다. 22  시므온의 자손 가운데서, 군대에 입대할 수 있는, 스무 살이 넘은 모든 남자를, 각각 가문별, 가족별로, 그 머리 수대로, 하나하나 명단에 올렸다. 23 시므온 지파에서 등록된 사람의 수는 오만 구천삼백 명이다. 24  갓의 자손 가운데서, 군대에 입대할 수 있는, 스무 살이 넘은 모든 남자를, 각각 가문별, 가족별로 명단에 올렸다. 25 갓 지파에서 등록된 사람의 수는 사만 오천육백오십 명이다. 26  유다의 자손 가운데서, 군대에 입대할 수 있는, 스무 살이 넘은 모든 남자를, 각각 가문별, 가족별로 명단에 올렸다. 27 유다 지파에서 등록된 사람의 수는 칠만 사천육백 명이다. 28  잇사갈의 자손 가운데서, 군대에 입대할 수 있는, 스무 살이 넘은 모든 남자를, 각각 가문별, 가족별로 명단에 올렸다. 29 잇사갈 지파에서 등록된 사람의 수는 오만 사천사백 명이다. 30  스불론의 자손 가운데서, 군대에 입대할 수 있는, 스무 살이 넘은 모든 남자를, 각각 가문별, 가족별로 명단에 올렸다. 31 스불론 지파에서 등록된 사람의 수는 오만 칠천사백 명이다. 32  요셉의 아들 에브라임의 자손 가운데서, 군대에 입대할 수 있는, 스무 살이 넘은 모든 남자를, 각각 가문별 가족별로 명단에 올렸다. 33 에브라임 지파에서 등록된 사람의 수는 사만 오백 명이다. 34  므낫세의 자손 가운데서, 군대에 입대할 수 있는, 스무 살이 넘은 모든 남자를, 각각 가문별, 가족별로 명단에 올렸다. 35 므낫세 지파에서 등록된 사람의 수는 삼만 이천이백 명이다. 36  베냐민의 자손 가운데서, 군대에 입대할 수 있는, 스무 살이 넘은 모든 남자를, 각각 가문별, 가족별로 명단에 올렸다. 37 베냐민 지파에서 등록된 사람의 수는 삼만 오천사백 명이다. 38  단의 자손 가운데서, 군대에 입대할 수 있는, 스무 살이 넘은 모든 남자를, 각각 가문별, 가족별로 명단에 올렸다. 39 단 지파에서 등록된 사람의 수는 육만 이천칠백 명이다. 40  아셀의 자손 가운데서, 군대에 입대할 수 있는, 스무 살이 넘은 모든 남자를, 각각 가문별, 가족별로 명단에 올렸다. 41 아셀 지파에서 등록된 사람의 수는 사만 천오백 명이다. 42  납달리의 자손 가운데서, 군대에 입대할 수 있는, 스무 살이 넘은 모든 남자를, 각각 가문별, 가족별로 명단에 올렸다. 43 납달리 지파에서 등록된 사람의 수는 오만 삼천사백 명이다. 44 이 사람들은, 모세와 아론이, 각 집안에서 한 사람씩 뽑힌 이스라엘의 열두 지도자들과 함께 조사하여 등록시킨 사람들이다. 45 이스라엘 군대에 입대할 수 있는, 스무 살이 넘은 모든 이스라엘 자손이, 각 집안별로 등록되었다. 46 등록된 이들은 모두 육십만 삼천오백오십 명이다. 47 그러나 레위 사람은, 조상의 지파별로, 그들과 함께 등록되지 않았다.
