Numbers 26

1 And it came to pass after the plague, that Jehovah spake unto Moses and unto Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest, saying,2 Take the sum of all the congregation of the children of Israel, from twenty years old and upward, by their fathers’ houses, all that are able to go forth to war in Israel.3 And Moses and Eleazar the priest spake with them in the plains of Moab by the Jordan at Jericho, saying,4 Take the sum of the people, from twenty years old and upward; as Jehovah commanded Moses and the children of Israel, that came forth out of the land of Egypt.

5 Reuben, the first-born of Israel; the sons of Reuben: of Hanoch, the family of the Hanochites; of Pallu, the family of the Palluites;6 of Hezron, the family of the Hezronites; of Carmi, the family of the Carmites.7 These are the families of the Reubenites; and they that were numbered of them were forty and three thousand and seven hundred and thirty.8 And the sons of Pallu: Eliab.9 And the sons of Eliab: Nemuel, and Dathan, and Abiram. These are that Dathan and Abiram, who were called of the congregation, who strove against Moses and against Aaron in the company of Korah, when they strove against Jehovah,10 and the earth opened its mouth, and swallowed them up together with Korah, when that company died; what time the fire devoured two hundred and fifty men, and they became a sign.11 Notwithstanding, the sons of Korah died not.

12 The sons of Simeon after their families: of Nemuel, the family of the Nemuelites; of Jamin, the family of the Jaminites; of Jachin, the family of the Jachinites;13 of Zerah, the family of the Zerahites; of Shaul, the family of the Shaulites.14 These are the families of the Simeonites, twenty and two thousand and two hundred.

15 The sons of Gad after their families: of Zephon, the family of the Zephonites; of Haggi, the family of the Haggites; of Shuni, the family of the Shunites;16 of Ozni, the family of the Oznites; of Eri, the family of the Erites;17 of Arod, the family of the Arodites; of Areli, the family of the Arelites.18 These are the families of the sons of Gad according to those that were numbered of them, forty thousand and five hundred.

19 The sons of Judah: Er and Onan; and Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan.20 And the sons of Judah after their families were: of Shelah, the family of the Shelanites; of Perez, the family of the Perezites; of Zerah, the family of the Zerahites.21 And the sons of Perez were: of Hezron, the family of the Hezronites; of Hamul, the family of the Hamulites.22 These are the families of Judah according to those that were numbered of them, threescore and sixteen thousand and five hundred.

23 The sons of Issachar after their families: of Tola, the family of the Tolaites; of Puvah, the family of the Punites;24 of Jashub, the family of the Jashubites; of Shimron, the family of the Shimronites.25 These are the families of Issachar according to those that were numbered of them, threescore and four thousand and three hundred.

26 The sons of Zebulun after their families: of Sered, the family of the Seredites; of Elon, the family of the Elonites; of Jahleel, the family of the Jahleelites.27 These are the families of the Zebulunites according to those that were numbered of them, threescore thousand and five hundred.

28 The sons of Joseph after their families: Manasseh and Ephraim.29 The sons of Manasseh: of Machir, the family of the Machirites; and Machir begat Gilead; of Gilead, the family of the Gileadites.30 These are the sons of Gilead: of Iezer, the family of the Iezerites; of Helek, the family of the Helekites;31 and of Asriel, the family of the Asrielites; and of Shechem, the family of the Shechemites;32 and of Shemida, the family of the Shemidaites; and of Hepher, the family of the Hepherites.33 And Zelophehad the son of Hepher had no sons, but daughters: and the names of the daughters of Zelophehad were Mahlah, and Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah.34 These are the families of Manasseh; and they that were numbered of them were fifty and two thousand and seven hundred.

35 These are the sons of Ephraim after their families: of Shuthelah, the family of the Shuthelahites; of Becher, the family of the Becherites; of Tahan, the family of the Tahanites.36 And these are the sons of Shuthelah: of Eran, the family of the Eranites.37 These are the families of the sons of Ephraim according to those that were numbered of them, thirty and two thousand and five hundred. These are the sons of Joseph after their families.

38 The sons of Benjamin after their families: of Bela, the family of the Belaites; of Ashbel, the family of the Ashbelites; of Ahiram, the family of the Ahiramites;39 of Shephupham, the family of the Shuphamites; of Hupham, the family of the Huphamites.40 And the sons of Bela were Ard and Naaman: of Ard, the family of the Ardites; of Naaman, the family of the Naamites.41 These are the sons of Benjamin after their families; and they that were numbered of them were forty and five thousand and six hundred.

42 These are the sons of Dan after their families: of Shuham, the family of the Shuhamites. These are the families of Dan after their families.43 All the families of the Shuhamites, according to those that were numbered of them, were threescore and four thousand and four hundred.

44 The sons of Asher after their families: of Imnah, the family of the Imnites; of Ishvi, the family of the Ishvites; of Beriah, the family of the Berites.45 Of the sons of Beriah: of Heber, the family of the Heberites; of Malchiel, the family of the Malchielites.46 And the name of the daughter of Asher was Serah.47 These are the families of the sons of Asher according to those that were numbered of them, fifty and three thousand and four hundred.

48 The sons of Naphtali after their families: of Jahzeel, the family of the Jahzeelites; of Guni, the family of the Gunites;49 of Jezer, the family of the Jezerites; of Shillem, the family of the Shillemites.50 These are the families of Naphtali according to their families; and they that were numbered of them were forty and five thousand and four hundred.

51 These are they that were numbered of the children of Israel, six hundred thousand and a thousand seven hundred and thirty.

52 And Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying,53 Unto these the land shall be divided for an inheritance according to the number of names.54 To the more thou shalt give the more inheritance, and to the fewer thou shalt give the less inheritance: to every one according to those that were numbered of him shall his inheritance be given.55 Notwithstanding, the land shall be divided by lot: according to the names of the tribes of their fathers they shall inherit.56 According to the lot shall their inheritance be divided between the more and the fewer.

57 And these are they that were numbered of the Levites after their families: of Gershon, the family of the Gershonites; of Kohath, the family of the Kohathites; of Merari, the family of the Merarites.58 These are the families of Levi: the family of the Libnites, the family of the Hebronites, the family of the Mahlites, the family of the Mushites, the family of the Korahites. And Kohath begat Amram.59 And the name of Amram’s wife was Jochebed, the daughter of Levi, who was born to Levi in Egypt: and she bare unto Amram Aaron and Moses, and Miriam their sister.60 And unto Aaron were born Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.61 And Nadab and Abihu died, when they offered strange fire before Jehovah.62 And they that were numbered of them were twenty and three thousand, every male from a month old and upward: for they were not numbered among the children of Israel, because there was no inheritance given them among the children of Israel.

63 These are they that were numbered by Moses and Eleazar the priest, who numbered the children of Israel in the plains of Moab by the Jordan at Jericho.64 But among these there was not a man of them that were numbered by Moses and Aaron the priest, who numbered the children of Israel in the wilderness of Sinai.65 For Jehovah had said of them, They shall surely die in the wilderness. And there was not left a man of them, save Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.

두 번째 인구조사

1 염병이 지나간 뒤에, 주님께서 모세와 아론의 아들 제사장 엘르아살에게 말씀하셨다. 2 “이스라엘 자손의 온 회중의 머리 수를 세어라. 스무 살부터 그 위로, 이스라엘에서 군대에 나갈 수 있는 이들을 모두 조상의 가문별로 세어라.” 3 모세와 제사장 엘르아살은 여리고 건너편 요단 강 가의 모압 평지에서 백성에게 이 사실을 알리고, 이렇게 지시하였다. 4 “주님께서 모세에게 명하신 대로, 스무 살부터 그 위로 남자의 수를 세시오.” 이집트 땅에서 나온 이스라엘 자손은 다음과 같다. 5  이스라엘의 맏아들은 르우벤이다. 르우벤의 자손은, 하녹에게서 난 하녹 가족과, 발루에게서 난 발루 가족과, 6 헤스론에게서 난 헤스론 가족과, 갈미에게서 난 갈미 가족이다. 7 이들은 르우벤 가족이며, 등록된 이들은 사만 삼천칠백삼십 명이다. 8  발루의 아들 가운데는 엘리압이 있었다. 9 엘리압의 아들은 느무엘과 다단과 아비람이다. 다단과 아비람은, 바로 모세와 아론에게 맞서 반역한 자들로서, 고라의 무리가 주님께 대항하여 반역할 때에 그들 가운데 있던 자들이며, 회중에서 부름받은 자들이다. 10 땅이 그 입을 벌려, 고라와 함께 그들도 삼켰다. 그 무리가 죽을 때에, 불이 사람 이백오십 명을 살랐는데, 그들은 본보기가 되었다. 11 그렇지만 고라의 자손은 죽지 않았다. 12  시므온 자손은 가족별로, 느무엘에게서 난 느무엘 가족과, 야민에게서 난 야민 가족과, 야긴에게서 난 야긴 가족과, 13 세라에게서 난 세라 가족과, 사울에게서 난 사울 가족이다. 14 이들은 시므온 가족이며, 등록된 이들은 이만 이천이백 명이다. 15  갓 자손은 가족별로, 스본에게서 난 스본 가족과, 학기에게서 난 학기 가족과, 수니에게서 난 수니 가족과, 16 오스니에게서 난 오스니 가족과, 에리에게서 난 에리 가족과, 17 아롯에게서 난 아롯 가족과, 아렐리에게서 난 아렐리 가족이다. 18 이들은 갓 자손의 가족이며, 등록된 이들은 사만 오백 명이다. 19  유다의 아들들은 에르와 오난이다. 에르와 오난은 가나안 땅에서 죽었다. 20  유다 자손은 가족별로, 셀라에게서 난 셀라 가족과, 베레스에게서 난 베레스 가족과, 세라에게서 난 세라 가족이다. 21 베레스 자손은 헤스론에게서 난 헤스론 가족과, 하물에게서 난 하물 가족이다. 22 이들은 유다 가족이며, 등록된 이들은 칠만 육천오백 명이다. 23  잇사갈 자손은 가족별로, 돌라에게서 난 돌라 가족과, 부와에게서 난 부니 가족과, 24 야숩에게서 난 야숩 가족과, 시므론에게서 난 시므론 가족이다. 25 이들은 잇사갈 가족이며, 등록된 이들은 육만 사천삼백 명이다. 26  스불론 자손은 가족별로, 세렛에게서 난 세렛 가족과, 엘론에게서 난 엘론 가족과, 얄르엘에게서 난 얄르엘 가족이다. 27 이들은 스불론 가족이며, 등록된 이들은 육만 오백 명이다. 28  요셉 자손은, 가족별로는 므낫세와 에브라임으로 나뉜다. 29  므낫세 자손은, 마길에게서 난 마길 가족과, 마길의 아들인 길르앗에게서 난 길르앗 가족이다. 30 길르앗 자손은, 이에셀에게서 난 이에셀 가족과, 헬렉에게서 난 헬렉 가족과, 31 아스리엘에게서 난 아스리엘 가족과, 세겜에게서 난 세겜 가족과, 32 스미다에게서 난 스미다 가족과, 헤벨에게서 난 헤벨 가족이다. 33 헤벨의 아들 슬로브핫에게는 아들이 없다. 그에게는 오직 딸들만 있는데, 그 딸들의 이름은 말라와 노아와 호글라와 밀가와 디르사이다. 34 이들은 므낫세 가족이며, 등록된 이들은 오만 이천칠백 명이다. 35  에브라임 자손은 가족별로, 수델라에게서 난 수델라 가족과, 베겔에게서 난 베겔 가족과, 다한에게서 난 다한 가족이다. 36 수델라 자손은 에란에게서 난 에란 가족이다. 37 이들은 에브라임 자손 가족이다. 등록된 이들은 삼만 이천오백 명이다. 이것은 요셉 자손을 그 가족별로 나누어 본 것이다. 38  베냐민 자손은 가족별로, 벨라에게서 난 벨라 가족과, 아스벨에게서 난 아스벨 가족과, 아히람에게서 난 아히람 가족과, 39 스부밤에게서 난 스부밤 가족과, 후밤에게서 난 후밤 가족이다. 40 벨라 자손은 아릇과 나아만이다. 아릇에게서 난 아릇 가족과, 나아만에게서 난 나아만 가족이다. 41 이들은 가족별로 본 베냐민 자손이며, 등록된 이들은 사만 오천육백 명이다. 42 다음은 단 자손을 가족별로 본 것이다. 수함에게서 수함 가족이 났다. 이들은 가족별로 본 단 가족들이다. 43 이들은 모두 수함 가족이며, 등록된 이들은 육만 사천사백 명이다. 44  아셀 자손은 가족별로 보면, 임나에게서 난 임나 가족과, 이스위에게서 난 이스위 가족과, 브리아에게서 난 브리아 가족이다. 45 브리아 자손은, 헤벨에게서 난 헤벨 가족과, 말기엘에게서 난 말기엘 가족이다. 46 아셀에게는 딸이 있었는데, 그 이름은 세라이다. 47 이들은 아셀 가족이며, 등록된 이들은 오만 삼천사백 명이다. 48  납달리 자손은 가족별로, 야스엘에게서 난 야스엘 가족과, 구니에게서 난 구니 가족과, 49 예셀에게서 난 예셀 가족과, 실렘에게서 난 실렘 가족이다. 50 이들은 가족별로 본 납달리 가족이며, 등록된 이들은 사만 오천사백 명이다. 51 이들과 같이 등록된 이스라엘 자손은, 모두 육십만 천칠백삼십 명이었다. 52 주님께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다. 53 “땅은 사람 수에 따라서, 그들의 유산으로 나누어 주어야 한다. 54 사람이 많으면 유산을 많이 주어야 하고, 사람이 적으면 유산을 적게 주어야 한다. 유산은 등록된 사람 수에 따라서, 각기 나누어 주어야 한다. 55 유산으로 받는 땅은 오직 제비를 뽑아 나누어야 하고, 그들은 그것을 조상 때부터 내려오는 지파의 이름으로 물려받아야 한다. 56 각 유산은 제비를 뽑아 나누어야 한다. 사람 수가 많은 지파들은 큰 땅을, 사람 수가 적은 지파들은 적은 땅을 놓고 추첨하여야 한다.” 57 가족별로 등록된 레위 사람은, 게르손에게서 난 게르손 가족과, 고핫에게서 난 고핫 가족과, 므라리에게서 난 므라리 가족이다. 58 다음은 레위 가족인데, 립니 가족과 헤브론 가족과 마흘리 가족과 무시 가족과 고라 가족이다. 고핫은 아므람을 낳았으며, 59 아므람의 아내의 이름은 요게벳인데, 그는 레위가 이집트에서 얻은 딸이다. 요게벳은 아므람에게서 아론과 모세와 그 누이 미리암을 낳았다. 60 아론에게서는 나답과 아비후와 엘르아살과 이다말이 태어났다. 61 그러나 나답과 아비후는 금지된 불을 주 앞에 드리다가 죽었다. 62 난 지 한 달 된 사람으로부터 그 위로 등록된 모든 레위 남자는 이만 삼천 명이다. 이스라엘 자손 가운데서 그들에게만은 땅을 유산으로 주지 않았기 때문에, 그들은 다른 이스라엘 자손이 등록된 명부에는 오르지 않았다. 63 이들은, 모세와 제사장 엘르아살이 여리고 맞은편 요단 강 가 모압 평지에서 이스라엘 자손의 인구를 조사할 때에, 그들이 등록시킨 이들이다. 64 등록된 사람들 가운데는, 모세와 제사장 아론이 시내 광야에서 이스라엘 자손의 인구를 조사할 때에 등록시켰던 사람은 한 명도 들어 있지 않았다. 65 주님께서, 그들이 광야에서 반드시 죽을 것이라고 말씀하셨기 때문이다. 여분네의 아들 갈렙과 눈의 아들 여호수아를 제외하고는, 그들 가운데서 어느 한 사람도 살아 남지 못하였다.
