2 Corinthians 1
1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus through the will of God, and Timothy our brother, unto the church of God which is at Corinth, with all the saints that are in the whole of Achaia:2 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort;4 who comforteth us in all our affliction, that we may be able to comfort them that are in any affliction, through the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.5 For as the sufferings of Christ abound unto us, even so our comfort also aboundeth through Christ.6 But whether we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation; or whether we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which worketh in the patient enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer:7 and our hope for you is stedfast; knowing that, as ye are partakers of the sufferings, so also are ye of the comfort.8 For we would not have you ignorant, brethren, concerning our affliction which befell us in Asia, that we were weighed down exceedingly, beyond our power, insomuch that we despaired even of life:9 yea, we ourselves have had the sentence of death within ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God who raiseth the dead:10 who delivered us out of so great a death, and will deliver: on whom we have set our hope that he will also still deliver us;11 ye also helping together on our behalf by your supplication; that, for the gift bestowed upon us by means of many, thanks may be given by many persons on our behalf.12 For our glorifying is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in holiness and sincerity of God, not in fleshly wisdom but in the grace of God, we behaved ourselves in the world, and more abundantly to you-ward.13 For we write no other things unto you, than what ye read or even acknowledge, and I hope ye will acknowledge unto the end:14 as also ye did acknowledge us in part, that we are your glorying, even as ye also are ours, in the day of our Lord Jesus.15 And in this confidence I was minded to come first unto you, that ye might have a second benefit;16 and by you to pass into Macedonia, and again from Macedonia to come unto you, and of you to be set forward on my journey unto Judaea.17 When I therefore was thus minded, did I show fickleness? or the things that I purpose, do I purpose according to the flesh, that with me there should be the yea yea and the nay nay?18 But as God is faithful, our word toward you is not yea and nay.19 For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us, even by me and Silvanus and Timothy, was not yea and nay, but in him is yea.20 For how many soever be the promises of God, in him is the yea: wherefore also through him is the Amen, unto the glory of God through us.21 Now he that establisheth us with you in Christ, and anointed us, is God;22 who also sealed us, and gave us the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.23 But I call God for a witness upon my soul, that to spare you I forbare to come unto Corinth.24 Not that we have lordship over your faith, but are helpers of your joy: for in faith ye stand fast.

Hilsen
1 t t Paulus, etter Guds vilje Kristi Jesu apostel, og vår bror Timoteus hilser Guds menighet i Korint og alle de hellige i hele Akaia:
2 t Nåde være med dere og fred fra Gud, vår Far, og Herren Jesus Kristus!Takk til Gud som trøster
3 t Lovet være Gud, vår Herre Jesu Kristi Far, den Far som er rik på barmhjertighet, vår Gud som gir all trøst! 4 Han trøster oss i all vår nød, så vi skal kunne trøste dem som er i nød, med den trøst vi selv får av Gud. 5 t For om vi har rikelig del i Kristi lidelser, får vi ved Kristus også rikelig trøst. 6 Lider vi nød, er det for at dere skal få trøst og frelse. Blir vi trøstet, er det for at dere skal få den trøst som gjør at dere holder ut de samme lidelser som vi må tåle.
7 Vårt håp for dere står fast. For vi vet at slik dere har del i lidelsen, har dere også del i trøsten.
8 t t Vi vil at dere skal vite, søsken, om den nød vi led i Asia. Det var mye mer enn vi kunne bære. Vi så ingen utvei til å berge livet, 9 t men regnet oss alt som dødsdømte. For vi skulle ikke stole på oss selv, men på Gud, som oppreiser de døde. 10 t Han reddet oss fra den visse død, og han skal gjøre det igjen. Til ham har vi satt vårt håp, og han skal redde oss på ny.
11 t Også dere må hjelpe til ved å be for oss. Når mange ber, vil takken for den nådige hjelp vi får, stige opp fra manges munn.Forsvar mot kritikk
12 t t Én ting kan vi være stolte av og si med god samvittighet: Vi har her i verden, og ikke minst blant dere, opptrådt med den ærlige oppriktighet som er fra Gud, og ikke vært ledet av menneskelig visdom, men av Guds nåde. 13 t For det ligger ikke noe annet i det vi skriver, enn det dere selv kan lese og forstå. Jeg håper at dere skal forstå fullt ut
14 t det som dere delvis har forstått, nemlig at vi på vår Herre Jesu dag skal få være stolte av hverandre, dere av oss og vi av dere.
15 t I tillit til dette ville jeg reise til dere først, for at dere skulle få dobbel glede. 16 Jeg ville besøke dere både på reisen til Makedonia og på tilbakeveien. Da kunne dere utruste meg for reisen til Judea. 17 Var dette uttrykk for uansvarlig vakling? Legger jeg planer slik mennesker kan gjøre, så jeg sier både ja og nei på samme tid? 18 t Så sant Gud er trofast: Det vi sier til dere, er ikke samtidig ja og nei. 19 tt For Guds Sønn, Jesus Kristus, som vi har forkynt for dere, jeg, Silvanus og Timoteus, han var ikke ja og nei; i ham er det bare ja. 20 t For i ham har alle Guds løfter fått sitt ja. Derfor sier vi også ved ham vårt amen, til Guds ære. 21 t Gud er den som grunnfester både oss og dere i Kristus, og som har salvet oss.
22 tt Han har også satt sitt segl på oss og gitt oss Ånden som pant i våre hjerter.
23 t Ved mitt eget liv, ja, med Gud som vitne, sier jeg: Det er for å spare dere at jeg ennå ikke er kommet til Korint. 24 t For vi vil ikke være herrer over deres tro, men medarbeidere, så dere kan finne gleden. I troen står dere allerede støtt.
