Luke 10

1 Now after these things the Lord appointed seventy others, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself was about to come.2 And he said unto them, The harvest indeed is plenteous, but the laborers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he send forth laborers into his harvest.3 Go your ways; behold, I send you forth as lambs in the midst of wolves.4 Carry no purse, no wallet, no shoes; and salute no man on the way.5 And into whatsoever house ye shall enter, first say, Peace be to this house.6 And if a son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon him: but if not, it shall turn to you again.7 And in that same house remain, eating and drinking such things as they give: for the laborer is worthy of his hire. Go not from house to house.8 And into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you:9 and heal the sick that are therein, and say unto them, The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.10 But into whatsoever city ye shall enter, and they receive you not, go out into the streets thereof and say,11 Even the dust from your city, that cleaveth to our feet, we wipe off against you: nevertheless know this, that the kingdom of God is come nigh.12 I say unto you, it shall be more tolerable in that day for Sodom, than for that city.13 Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works had been done in Tyre and Sidon, which were done in you, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.14 But it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in the judgment, than for you.15 And thou, Capernaum, shalt thou be exalted unto heaven? thou shalt be brought down unto Hades.16 He that heareth you heareth me; and he that rejecteth you rejecteth me; and he that rejecteth me rejecteth him that sent me.17 And the seventy returned with joy, saying, Lord, even the demons are subject unto us in thy name.18 And he said unto them, I beheld Satan fallen as lightning from heaven.19 Behold, I have given you authority to tread upon serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall in any wise hurt you.20 Nevertheless in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.21 In that same hour he rejoiced in the Holy Spirit, and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou didst hide these things from the wise and understanding, and didst reveal them unto babes: yea, Father; for so it was well-pleasing in thy sight.22 All things have been delivered unto me of my Father: and no one knoweth who the Son is, save the Father; and who the Father is, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son willeth to reveal him.23 And turning to the disciples, he said privately, Blessed are the eyes which see the things that ye see:24 for I say unto you, that many prophets and kings desired to see the things which ye see, and saw them not; and to hear the things which ye hear, and heard them not.25 And behold, a certain lawyer stood up and made trial of him, saying, Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?26 And he said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou?27 And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbor as thyself.28 And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.29 But he, desiring to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbor?30 Jesus made answer and said, A certain man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho; and he fell among robbers, who both stripped him and beat him, and departed, leaving him half dead.31 And by chance a certain priest was going down that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.32 And in like manner a Levite also, when he came to the place, and saw him, passed by on the other side.33 But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he was moved with compassion,34 and came to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring on them oil and wine; and he set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.35 And on the morrow he took out two shillings, and gave them to the host, and said, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, I, when I come back again, will repay thee.36 Which of these three, thinkest thou, proved neighbor unto him that fell among the robbers?37 And he said, He that showed mercy on him. And Jesus said unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.38 Now as they went on their way, he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house.39 And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at the Lord’s feet, and heard his word.40 But Martha was cumbered about much serving; and she came up to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister did leave me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.41 But the Lord answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art anxious and troubled about many things:42 but one thing is needful: for Mary hath chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her.

Jesus sender ut sytti disipler

1 Senere utpekte Herren sytti andre og sendte dem ut foran seg, to og to, til hver by og hvert sted hvor han selv skulle komme. s2 Han sa til dem: Høsten er stor, men arbeiderne få. Be derfor høstens herre at han vil drive arbeidere ut til sin høst! s3 Gå av sted. Se, jeg sender dere som lam midt iblant ulver. 4 Bær ikke pung, ikke sekk, ikke sko. Gi dere ikke i snakk med folk langs veien. s5 Når dere kommer inn i et hus, så si først: Fred være med dette hus! s6 Og er det et fredens barn der, så skal deres fred hvile over ham, men hvis ikke skal den vende tilbake til dere. 7 Bli i det huset, og et og drikk det de byr dere, for arbeideren er sin lønn verd. Flytt ikke fra hus til hus. s8 Når dere kommer inn i en by og de tar imot dere, så kan dere ete det som blir satt fram for dere. s9 Helbred de syke i byen, og si til dem: Guds rike er kommet nær til dere! s10 Men hvor dere kommer inn i en by og de ikke tar imot dere, der skal dere gå ut på byens gater og si: 11 Til og med støvet fra byen deres, som er blitt hengende ved føttene våre, børster vi av mot dere. Men det skal dere vite, at Guds rike er kommet nær. s12 Jeg sier dere: Det skal gå Sodoma tåleligere på den dagen enn den byen! s13 Ve deg, Korasin! Ve deg, Betsaida! For dersom de kraftige gjerningene som er gjort i dere, hadde skjedd i Tyrus og Sidon, da ville de forlengst ha omvendt seg og sittet i sekk og aske! s14 Men Tyrus og Sidon skal få det tåleligere i dommen enn dere! 15 Og du, Kapernaum, som er blitt opphøyet til himmelen! Til dødsriket skal du bli nedstøtt. s16 Den som hører dere, hører meg, og den som forkaster dere, forkaster meg. Men den som forkaster meg, forkaster ham som har sendt meg. s

Navnene skrevet i himmelen

17 De sytti kom glade tilbake og sa: Herre, til og med de onde åndene adlyder oss i ditt navn! s18 Da sa han til dem: Jeg så Satan falle ned fra himmelen som et lyn. s19 Se, jeg har gitt dere makt til å trå på slanger og skorpioner og over alt fiendens velde, og ingen ting skal skade dere. s20 Men gled dere ikke over dette at åndene er dere lydige! Gled dere heller over at navnene deres er innskrevet i himmelen! s

21 I samme stund frydet han seg i Den Hellige Ånd og sa: Jeg priser deg, Far, himmelens og jordens Herre, fordi du har skjult dette for vise og forstandige, og åpenbart det for umyndige. Ja, Far, for slik skjedde det som var til velbehag for deg. s22 Alle ting er overgitt til meg av min Far. Ingen kjenner til hvem Sønnen er, uten Faderen, og hvem Faderen er, uten Sønnen og den som Sønnen vil åpenbare det for. s

23 Da han var alene med disiplene, vendte han seg til dem og sa: Salige er de øynene som ser det dere ser! s24 For jeg sier dere: Mange profeter og konger har ønsket å se det som dere ser, men fikk ikke se det, og høre det som dere hører, men fikk ikke høre det! s

Den barmhjertige samaritan

25 Og se, en lovkyndig sto fram og fristet ham og sa: Mester, hva skal jeg gjøre for å arve evig liv? s26 Han sa til ham: Hva står skrevet i loven? Hvordan leser du? 27 Han svarte og sa: Du skal elske Herren din Gud av hele ditt hjerte og av hele din sjel og av all din kraft og av all din forstand, og din neste som deg selv! ss28 Da sa han til ham: Du svarte rett. Gjør dette, så skal du leve! s29 Men han ville rettferdiggjøre seg selv og sa til Jesus: Og hvem er min neste? s30 Jesus tok opp dette og sa: En mann gikk fra Jerusalem ned til Jeriko, og han falt blant røvere. De både kledde av ham og slo ham og gikk bort og lot ham ligge igjen halvdød. 31 Nå traff det seg slik at en prest dro ned samme veien, og han så mannen og gikk forbi. 32 Likeså kom en levitt til stedet og så ham og gikk forbi. 33 Men en samaritan som var på reise, kom også dit mannen lå. Og da han så ham, fikk han inderlig medynk med ham. s34 Han gikk bort til ham og forbandt sårene hans og helte olje og vin i dem. Og han løftet ham opp på sitt eget dyr og førte ham til et herberge og pleiet ham. 35 Neste dag tok han fram to denarer, ga dem til verten og sa: Plei ham! Og hva mer du måtte legge ut, det skal jeg betale deg igjen når jeg kommer tilbake. 36 Hvem av disse tre synes du nå viste seg som en neste for ham som var falt blant røvere? 37 Han sa: Den som viste barmhjertighet mot ham. Da sa Jesus til ham: Gå du bort og gjør likeså!

Marta og Maria

38 Mens de var på vandring, kom han inn i en landsby, og en kvinne ved navn Marta tok imot ham i sitt hus. 39 Hun hadde en søster som hette Maria. Hun satte seg ved Jesu føtter og lyttet til hans ord. 40 Men Marta var travelt opptatt med alt som skulle stelles i stand. Hun gikk da bort til dem og sa: Herre, bryr du deg ikke om at søsteren min har latt meg bli alene med å tjene deg? Si da til henne at hun skal hjelpe meg! 41 Men Herren svarte og sa til henne: Marta, Marta! Du gjør deg strev og uro med mange ting. s42 Men ett er nødvendig. Maria har valgt den gode del, som ikke skal bli tatt fra henne. s
