Mark 10

1 And he arose from thence and cometh into the borders of Judaea and beyond the Jordan: and multitudes come together unto him again; and, as he was wont, he taught them again.2 And there came unto him Pharisees, and asked him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife? trying him.3 And he answered and said unto them, What did Moses command you?4 And they said, Moses suffered to write a bill of divorcement, and to put her away.5 But Jesus said unto them, For your hardness of heart he wrote you this commandment.6 But from the beginning of the creation, Male and female made he them.7 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife;8 and the two shall become one flesh: so that they are no more two, but one flesh.9 What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.10 And in the house the disciples asked him again of this matter.11 And he saith unto them, Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her:12 and if she herself shall put away her husband, and marry another, she committeth adultery.13 And they were bringing unto him little children, that he should touch them: and the disciples rebuked them.14 But when Jesus saw it, he was moved with indignation, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me; forbid them not: for to such belongeth the kingdom of God.15 Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall in no wise enter therein.16 And he took them in his arms, and blessed them, laying his hands upon them.17 And as he was going forth into the way, there ran one to him, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Teacher, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?18 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good save one, even God.19 Thou knowest the commandments, Do not kill, Do not commit adultery, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Do not defraud, Honor thy father and mother.20 And he said unto him, Teacher, all these things have I observed from my youth.21 And Jesus looking upon him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.22 But his countenance fell at the saying, and he went away sorrowful: for he was one that had great possessions.23 And Jesus looked round about, and saith unto his disciples, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!24 And the disciples were amazed at his words. But Jesus answereth again, and saith unto them, Children, how hard is it for them that trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of God!25 It is easier for a camel to go through a needle’s eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.26 And they were astonished exceedingly, saying unto him, Then who can be saved?27 Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for all things are possible with God.28 Peter began to say unto him, Lo, we have left all, and have followed thee.29 Jesus said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or mother, or father, or children, or lands, for my sake, and for the gospel’s sake,30 but he shall receive a hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.31 But many that are first shall be last; and the last first.32 And they were on the way, going up to Jerusalem; and Jesus was going before them: and they were amazed; and they that followed were afraid. And he took again the twelve, and began to tell them the things that were to happen unto him,33 saying, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be delivered unto the chief priests and the scribes; and they shall condemn him to death, and shall deliver him unto the Gentiles:34 and they shall mock him, and shall spit upon him, and shall scourge him, and shall kill him; and after three days he shall rise again.35 And there come near unto him James and John, the sons of Zebedee, saying unto him, Teacher, we would that thou shouldest do for us whatsoever we shall ask of thee.36 And he said unto them, What would ye that I should do for you?37 And they said unto him, Grant unto us that we may sit, one on thy right hand, and one on thy left hand, in thy glory.38 But Jesus said unto them, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink the cup that I drink? or to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?39 And they said unto him, We are able. And Jesus said unto them, The cup that I drink ye shall drink; and with the baptism that I am baptized withal shall ye be baptized:40 but to sit on my right hand or on my left hand is not mine to give; but it is for them for whom it hath been prepared.41 And when the ten heard it, they began to be moved with indignation concerning James and John.42 And Jesus called them to him, and saith unto them, Ye know that they who are accounted to rule over the Gentiles lord it over them; and their great ones exercise authority over them.43 But it is not so among you: but whosoever would become great among you, shall be your minister;44 and whosoever would be first among you, shall be servant of all.45 For the Son of man also came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.46 And they come to Jericho: and as he went out from Jericho, with his disciples and a great multitude, the son of Timaeus, Bartimaeus, a blind beggar, was sitting by the way side.47 And when he heard that it was Jesus the Nazarene, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me.48 And many rebuked him, that he should hold his peace: but he cried out the more a great deal, Thou son of David, have mercy on me.49 And Jesus stood still, and said, Call ye him. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good cheer: rise, he calleth thee.50 And he, casting away his garment, sprang up, and came to Jesus.51 And Jesus answered him, and said, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? And the blind man said unto him, Rabboni, that I may receive my sight.52 And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And straightway he received his sight, and followed him in the way.

Markus 10

Ekteskap og skilsmisse

1 Så brøt han opp derfra og dro til bygdene i Judea og landet på andre siden av Jordan. Igjen samlet mengder av folk seg om ham, og igjen lærte han dem, som han pleide. s2 Noen fariseere kom da til ham, og for å friste ham, spurte de: Har en mann lov til å skille seg fra sin kone? 3 Han svarte og sa til dem: Hva har Moses foreskrevet dere? 4 De sa: Moses tillot å skrive et skilsmissebrev og skille seg fra henne. s5 Men Jesus sa til dem: Fordi dere har så hardt et hjerte, skrev han dette budet for dere. 6 Men fra skapningens begynnelse gjorde Gud dem til mann og kvinne. s7 Derfor skal mannen forlate sin far og sin mor og holde seg til sin hustru, s8 og de to skal være ett kjød. Så er de da ikke lenger to, men ett kjød. 9 Derfor, det som Gud har sammenføyd, det skal ikke et menneske skille. 10 Da de var kommet inn i huset, spurte disiplene ham igjen om dette. 11 Han sier til dem: Den som skiller seg fra sin hustru og gifter seg med en annen, begår ekteskapsbrudd mot henne. s

12 Og dersom en kvinne skiller seg fra sin mann og gifter seg med en annen, så begår hun ekteskapsbrudd.

Jesus velsigner de små barna

13 Og de bar små barn til ham for at han skulle røre ved dem; men disiplene truet dem som bar dem. s14 Men da Jesus så det, ble han harm og sa til dem: La de små barna komme til meg, hindre dem ikke! For Guds rike hører slike til.

15 Sannelig sier jeg dere: Den som ikke tar imot Guds rike som et lite barn, skal slett ikke komme inn i det! s16 Og han tok dem på fanget og la hendene på dem og velsignet dem.

Den rike unge mannen

17 Og da han gikk ut på veien, kom en løpende og falt på kne for ham og spurte ham: Gode mester, hva skal jeg gjøre for å arve evig liv? s18 Men Jesus sa til ham: Hvorfor kaller du meg god? Ingen er god uten én, det er Gud. 19 Budene kjenner du: Du skal ikke slå i hjel. Du skal ikke bryte ekteskapet. Du skal ikke stjele. Du skal ikke vitne falskt. Du skal ikke bedra noen. Hedre din far og din mor. s

20 Han sa til ham: Mester! Alt dette har jeg holdt fra jeg var ung. 21 Da så Jesus på ham og fikk ham kjær. Og han sa til ham: Én ting mangler du: Gå bort og selg alt du eier, og gi det til de fattige. Så skal du få en skatt i himmelen. Kom så og følg meg! s22 Men han ble trist til sinns for dette ordet og gikk bedrøvet bort, for han var meget rik.

Rikdommens fare

23 Jesus så seg omkring og sa til disiplene sine: Hvor vanskelig det vil være for dem som har rikdommer å komme inn i Guds rike! 24 Disiplene ble forferdet over hans ord. Men Jesus tok igjen til orde og sa: Barn, hvor vanskelig det er for dem som setter sin lit til sin rikdom, å komme inn i Guds rike! s25 Det er lettere for en kamel å gå gjennom et nåløye enn for en rik å komme inn i Guds rike! 26 Da ble de enda mer forferdet og sa til hverandre: Hvem kan da bli frelst?

27 Jesus så på dem og sa: For mennesker er det umulig, men ikke for Gud. For alt er mulig for Gud! s28 Peter tok da til orde og sa til ham: Se, vi har forlatt alt og fulgt deg. s29 Jesus svarte og sa: Sannelig sier jeg dere: Det er ingen som har forlatt hus eller brødre eller søstre eller mor eller far eller barn eller åkrer for min skyld og for evangeliets skyld, s30 uten at han skal få hundrefoll igjen: Her i tiden hus, brødre, søstre, mødre, barn og åkrer - sammen med forfølgelser - og i den kommende verden evig liv. s31 Men mange som er de første, skal bli de siste, og de siste de første! s

Jesus forutsier på nytt sin lidelse

32 De var nå på vei opp til Jerusalem, og Jesus gikk foran dem. De var forferdet, og de som fulgte med, var redde. Han tok da igjen de tolv til side og begynte å tale til dem om det som skulle hende ham: s33 Se, vi drar opp til Jerusalem, og Menneskesønnen skal overgis til yppersteprestene og de skriftlærde. De skal dømme ham til døden og overgi ham til hedningene, s34 og de skal håne ham og spytte på ham, hudstryke ham og slå ham i hjel. Og etter tre dager skal han stå opp.s

Sebedeus-sønnene - og formaning til ydmykhet

35 Jakob og Johannes, Sebedeus-sønnene, kom til ham og sa: Mester, vi vil at du skal gjøre for oss det vi ber deg om! s36 Han sa til dem: Hva vil dere så at jeg skal gjøre for dere? 37 De sa til ham: Gi oss at den ene av oss må sitte ved din høyre og den andre ved din venstre side i din herlighet! s38 Men Jesus sa til dem: Dere vet ikke hva dere ber om! Kan dere drikke det begeret jeg drikker eller døpes med den dåpen jeg blir døpt med? s39 De sa til ham: Det kan vi! Men Jesus sa til dem: Det begeret jeg drikker, skal dere få drikke, og den dåpen jeg døpes med, skal dere bli døpt med. s40 Men å sitte ved min høyre eller venstre side, det står ikke til meg å gi, men det gis til dem det er beredt for. 41 Da de ti hørte dette, ble de harme på Jakob og Johannes. 42 Men Jesus kalte dem til seg og sa til dem: Dere vet at de som gjelder for å være fyrster for folkene, hersker over dem, og deres stormenn bruker makt over dem. s43 Slik skal det ikke være blant dere, men den som vil være stor blant dere, skal være alles tjener. s44 Og den som vil være den første blant dere, skal være alles trell. 45 For Menneskesønnen er ikke kommet for å la seg tjene, men for selv å tjene og gi sitt liv som løsepenge i manges sted. ss

Den blinde Bartimeus

46 De kom så til Jeriko. Og da han dro ut fra Jeriko sammen med disiplene sine og en stor folkemengde, satt Timeus’ sønn, Bartimeus, en blind tigger, ved veien. s47 Da han hørte at det var Jesus fra Nasaret, begynte han å rope: Jesus, du Davids sønn, miskunn deg over meg! s48 Mange truet ham for å få ham til å tie, men han ropte bare enda høyere: Du Davids sønn, miskunn deg over meg! 49 Jesus sto da stille og sa: Kall ham hit! Og de ropte på den blinde og sa til ham: Vær frimodig! Stå opp, han kaller på deg. 50 Han kastet kappen av seg, sprang opp og kom til Jesus. 51 Jesus tok så til orde og sa til ham: Hva vil du jeg skal gjøre for deg? Den blinde sa til ham: Rabbuni, at jeg må få synet igjen. 52 Jesus sa til ham: Gå bort, din tro har frelst deg! Og straks fikk han synet igjen, og fulgte ham på veien.
