-we're always hearing from God, but God also wants to hear from us
-He takes notice of our prayers
-need to have some conviction of our relationship w Him so that when we call on Him we have assurance that He will answer
-He doesnt just take note of our prayers/supplications, but also the things going on around us
-the Lord is our refuge from the enemy both within and without
-nothing is hidden from God; He knows the intent of your heart better than you do
-these arent just hard times, but they're also testing times --> need ppl of God to pray for us, not pity us
