Committing to God- Hebrews 6:16
This passage makes me think of marriage. God created marriage as a model of salvation, that the husband should love the wife like Christ loved the Church, laying down his life for her. In return the wife submits to the husband, following his leadership and being obedient to him.
This is how we should understand salvation. When we pray that prayer and accept Christ into our heart, it should be as special as a wedding. Because of love, we are all brides, committing ourselves to Jesus. We are vowing to submit ourselves to Him, because we love Him, because He laid down His life for us, because we are grateful, because He is good.
Salvation is a commitment ceremony at the start of an intimate relationship, something that should be guarded, cultivated, developed, protected, and enjoyed forever- because there is no death that will part us.
