Liberation from Hopelessness
In this verse David tells us that the LORD is near to those who face hopeless situations or circumstances in life. That He is with those of us who feel as IF we have lost all hope in whatever we're facing at the present time. The interesting thing that David states in this verse is that God "saves" those who have lost hope... exactly what does that look like? Well... a look at the Hebrew word helps... the word is "Yasha" which means to be delivered... to be liberated!" What an amazing word that David connects to the LORD'S presence with us in the difficult sometimes stifling situations that we may encounter in life. The LORD our God seeks to set us free... to liberate us... to deliver us out from under the circumstances that threaten to bind us and to suck the joy and hope from our lives. When life seems too tough to handle... remember... God desires to liberate us... and to set us free from the stuff that surrounds us so that we can glorify Him and fulfill His plans and purposes for us as His people on this planet!
