learn, worship, seek

9 “And Solomon, my son, learn to know the God of your ancestors intimately. Worship and serve him with your whole heart and a willing mind. For the Lord sees every heart and knows every plan and thought. If you seek him, you will find him. But if you forsake him, he will reject you forever. Chronicles 28:9 NLT

Before King David died and left Solomon (his son) the throne that God had chosen, he gave him some advice that was invaluable. This talk that David had with his son could very well be the reason why Solomon later asked God for wisdom instead riches or death to his enemies. He must have taken to heart the idea that He had to get to know God and worship Him with all his heart and mind. He took serious the fact that God knew every thought and plan and going anywhere else for help would only leave him abandoned from God.

This is such a great reminder for me today to not only stay in God’s Word and to continue getting to know God but to worship him consciously with my mind and passionately with my heart. If I do this I will be a constant reminder that God knows my thoughts and intentions and I’ll have to check my heart and mind in at the door each day and surrender them to Him in worship.

Thank you Lord for this reminder today, please give me the strength to continue to know You more, serve and follow after You with all of my heart and mind.
