In the world, but not of the world
This verse reminds me of that saying, "we live IN the world, but we are not OF the world". I remember going through one of Beth Moore's teaching on the book of Daniel and how she described that we in America are living in a type of Babylon ourselves. With the entertainment all around and the American way everywhere you look. We have to be light in the midst of a rich nation that has so much. We must not live according to the custom of American traditions but rather by the fear of the Lord. He is the Lord. Whether or not we accept that fact, He will still be Lord when it is all said and done. He owns it all and we must choose to lay down our "rights" and let Him have His way with our lives.
