Jesus Notes #28
These verses can seem a bit odd. However, like many perplexing statements from Jesus, after carefully unraveling them you see truth.
First off - Jesus wants His followers to know that following His walk is HARD. Jesus is constantly working for the Kingdom, as we should be if we follow Him; but this is by no means an easy task. There isn't a lot of time for 'laying your head down'. And not only that, I think Jesus also refers to the fact by following Him, you sort of forfeit your 'earthly' home. You forfeit earthly security for heavenly assurance.
And in the final verse in this section, Jesus sounds harsh! No time to bury the dead?! But I think Jesus might just be signifying just how important it is that we instantly start following his ways. We should always respect the fallen, but we should not always be looking for an excuse to start following God LATER.
