Even though the people were afraid of the local residents, they rebuilt the altar at its old site. Then they began to sacrifice burnt offerings on the altar to the Lord each morning and evening. Ezra 3:3 NLT

The Jews were finally free to rebuild and began sacrificing burnt offerings to God after being captive to the Babylonians for 70 years. Not everyone liked this so it’s understandable that they were afraid however they still did it.

We live in a culture where not everyone likes or respects the fact that I love God and in some cases it can be a little intimidating. But just as the Jews continued regardless of their fears, I must do the same never being ashamed or afraid to live my life for God in front of everyone each day.

God, thank you for this reminder today to not be afraid or ashamed to life out my life for you in front of the world.
