Doubting Thomas

Oh, oh, oh, oh... How lovely! How magnificent!  I'll explain how I got to that point of happiness shortly.  First off, Here's Thomas.  Famously known as Doubting Thomas.  Also known as Didymus-- or "the twin."  And he misses the chance to see the RISEN LORD.  The disciples explain to him what they experienced and his response is:  I'll believe it when I see it!  Just a week goes by and Jesus pays the disciples a visit.  And HE goes right up to Thomas and directs him to put his fingers in the nail marks.  And Thomas does.  And Thomas believes.

Thomas wasn't punished for doubting.  He was not chastised.  He was ridiculed.  Jesus came up to him and proved himself.

In James 1.7-8 it talks about a "double minded" man, a man who asks but doubts.  How interesting that Thomas' name means "the twin."  When we try to hold to conflicting ideas in our head-- we are being double minded... And yet, when we doubt-- we are not shoved to the side.  The short prayer in Mark 9:24 helps me out so many times:  "I believe, God.  Help me in my unbelief."  And HE does, doesn't he!  He helps us in our unbelief.  He helps us maneuver our way through our doubts.  He helps us when we lack faith.

Amen! Amen! Amen!  Jesus KNEW what Thomas needed to believe.  So Jesus did not withhold what Thomas needed.  He gave Thomas the proof.  This makes me so happy.  So excited.  HE knows what we need.  And HE will not withhold it.  HE will give you that push you need to get out of the faith rut you are in.  All I got to do is cry out-- God I Believe!  Help me in my unbelief.  God, up til now You have taken care of me.  But this big mountain or deep valley is coming up ahead in my journey and I am struggling with doubt, with lack of faith, with double mindedness-- HELP ME, Lord!

And HE WILL DO IT.  He will allow you to put your hands through the nail markings.  He will allow you to put your hand through His side.
