Rev 1:5-6. from Jesus Christ. He is the faithful witness to these things, the first to rise from the dead, and the ruler of all the kings of the world.
All glory to him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by shedding his blood for us.
Who has made us a Kingdom of priests for his Father.
This may be one of the most saturated areas of scripture in all the Bible. This verse is so dense with the Glory and Wonder of God.
1. The object of the scripture: Jesus (a faithful witness, the first to rise from the dead and the ruler of all the kings of the world.) Try to stop and soak that in. One who lived with God and left His dwelling to bring testimony of His Father and His kingdom. One who defied the laws of our world even denying death it's victory. One who easily trumps every earthly politician / power. One named Jesus. How mind scrambling is that reality .....oh but there is more so much more
2. The object of Jesus affection (the one who has confessed Him as Lord in this life). We are the ones He loves. A love that came for prisoners, prisoners due to their own selfishness. A love that suffered and bled for our freedom. A love that has exalted us to the position of priest. If the first half of this verse had you scrambled this half will humble you. I am the object of His affection. I am the one He came to bring liberty to. I am the one he bled for. I am the one He has establish as a priest. There is truly to much for a human soul to comprehend. Like a small cup trying to contain the waters of the Niagra falls. I cannot absorb them so I chose to be saturated and washed by them. Overpower me today with this truth God. Ravishing my soul and purify my ways. May be forever altered by these truths.
