Presents or Presence?
We have started a little tradition in our family, that whenever Julia or I go away, we come home bearing gifts for the kids - and they love it.
When they were younger, the moment seemed to be more about the gift than it was about us. More about our presents instead of our presence.
I have seen this sneak in as a parallel with God.
We can be more enthusiastic about His gifts and abilities in our lives than His friendship. Think about it, we are in the Presence of the Creator and we are more wrapped up in His presents!
Exodus 34:5-7
And the Lord came down in the cloud and stood there with him and proclaimed his name, the Lord. 6 And he passed in front of Moses, proclaiming, "The Lord, the Lord, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, 7 maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin..."
There is so much to about the Lord by just being with Him.
God revealed Himself to Moses just by walking past him, imagine if He had have stayed a while!
We do life with people every day, and walk past multitudes.
Stop and think for a moment about all the little interactions you will have today. You can be the difference for people today.
Understand there is a big difference between your Presents & Presence!
