The Stairway
Are you ready for the next level? You live your life doing the right things and trying to be a person of 'complete integrity'. Being honest and a hard working person makes you feel good. However, being good is not your stairway to heaven.
The only stairway to heaven is Jesus himself...why?
He is God himself.
Think of Jesus as the Almighty God manifested in the flesh to connect us to heaven.
He is a Human being.
He became flesh to relate with us so that, through him, we could climb our way to God.
He is the stairway.
As God and Human, he is connecting two places: the physical world and the spiritual. His divine presence in human form allows him to connect us to heaven.
Nathanael was a good person. But, he needed to step up from under the fig tree and come to Jesus. Like him, being a good person does not take you to heaven. The way to heaven is a person and the only way to climb to heaven is by having a relationship with Jesus. That's the next level.
