Baruch

Read Jeremiah 36:1-8,16-32

- How would you feel having to rewrite a scroll that the king burnt? You would feel like this is pointless the king doesn't want to listen he will just burn the scroll again. Little did Baruch know that these words flowing from his pen would endure for thousands of years and be translated into hundreds of languages.
- Not only did the king burn the scroll but he tried to kill Jeremiah and Baruch. Would you go back to the King and give him the scroll knowing it might cost you your life?

Read Jeremiah 45:1-5

Baruch was overwhelmed, weary, and restless. He also probably felt like his work was useless. He probably didn't want to do it anymore. It might cost him his life and all this work for what the King is never going to listen. God gives Baruch hope and he gives us hope as well. What we can take from the lesson God gave to Baruch is...

Be content to do God's will instead of longing for something that seems more rewarding.

•The lord assured Baruch that his labor was not in vain. Every word would come true. Scripture tells us that nothing we do for Jesus is ever useless (1 Corinthians 15:58)
•The lord told Baruch to forget about promoting himself. Jesus calls us not to worry about our physical needs but to make his kingdom our primary concern. (Matthew 6:32-33)
• God guaranteed Baruch physical protection, and he grants us his constant presence and protection. (Matthew 28:20, Hebrews 13:5-6)
