Satan Tells the Truth
We all know of Satan as being the ultimate liar, so much so that he is called the "father of lies" in John 8:44. But here we see that Satan is pretty good at telling the truth, based off of our facts. What I mean by our facts is the things that we honestly have done, whether good or bad. Just the facts of our lives. When you consider a prosecutor, their job is to accuse the person on with facts and by adding a bit of emotional flair to their arguement. Satan does the same thing here. He takes the truth and uses it to accuse Joshua. It is further confirmed by Gods statement that he is a burning stick snatched from the fire. This tells me that God is saying "sure he did do those things, but by my grace, he is saved from the pit of hell". So I think that it is important to know our enemy, as he will use anything to get us. The fact is, he lies to us, tricks us, and then tells God about what we fell into. See how his lies can become our truth as we live them out? We have to watch what facts our accuser can use against us!
