Teaching NOT Teacher

This is an interesting perspective on Jesus' miracle of delivering the demoniac. The onlookers were obviously amazed by what they witnessed, but notice their observation, 'what sort of teaching is this?' Not what sort of teacher...but what sort of teaching? And then, 'it has such authority'. I can't help but wonder if this isn't critical to our understanding of the power/authority in the Word. If it simply resided in the teacher, when He was gone the authority would be gone with Him. Because however it is in the teaching, we can carry on with His authority because we have His teaching. A good reminder in the midst of challenging ministry days.

Another idea is that the teacher and the teaching have the same power, because the Word incarnate is also the Word written. The Spirit indwelt the incarnate Word, and the Spirit indwells the written Word, and both have authority to heal, to save, to deliver. Hallelujah!
