Any one moment of bad, negates any and all good we may have done. Don't believe me, look at celebrities, do we remember their good, or is their fame denoted by the time(s) they did bad.
When we mess up, it is an opportunity to remember how much we need Grace.
Nothing makes us more angry than to see someone saying they are one way, then watching them live another: hypocrisy.
It is essential that we realize what we once were and who we really are.
Sanctification transforms us from darkness to light, and is only found in Christ: being made more like Him.
If we say we love Jesus, what has He said to us lately? What has His word spoken to your life?
The light of Jesus reveals who He is, who we are, and who we need in order to be good!
Without Jesus, Peter is scared and nervous, and when confronted with the imminent death of Jesus, he denies he ever knew Him.
Jesus looks at Peter, after the depth of his denial, and not only forgives him, but says that He will use Peter. Deeper than forgiveness, loves shines through His grace and mercy.
Christ calls us, like Peter, out BY NAME! To use people who stab Him in the back, and uses them to further His Kingdom.
Rather than living with darkness, we are called to bring the Light into darkness and expose it. Especially within our own hearts.
Our focus should never be on the darkness, for God cast out the darkness with His light. Light obliterates darkness, and so God has forgotten our darkness, so we cannot focus on something that is no longer there.
We didn't just do a few bad things, we were sinners.
How can I be good?
God must make me good through Jesus, then I can display His goodness for others to see!
Do I have a passion and a desire to magnify Jesus? That is the end of our good works, it is nothing for our salvation but only a result of our salvation.
cf Matthew 5:16
In the darkness or the light, we WILL experience storms, but who do we want to be found upon: us or Christ?
"Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine upon you." Eph 5:14b
It doesn't matter what we have done, Christ loves us SO much that He died for anything and everything we have done or ever will do, when we turn to Him.
cf John 3:16-21
