Second Chances: Facing Adversity

"How To Handle Adversity" - Charles Stanley

Adversity = Hard times; A state of misfortune and affliction

Who is behind our adversity?

- God sometimes allows an interruption of life to capture our attention

- It usually takes a jolt to bring us around

Adversity will show up in an area of your life where you think you're strongest.

- If everything is okay, we start to lose our connection with God because we forget about his role in our life.

- if nothing is wrong, we start to assume that everything is right.

- God allows adversity so that he can prove his faithfulness.

Psalm 34:4-7; 19

What could he accomplish if God had your undivided attention and loyalty?

God is the source of adversity.

But, why? The questions are endless.

John 9:2-3

- Jesus' answer proves that our perspectives are too small.

- The disciples saw his blindness as a result of something, but Jesus says that there was no human reason for it.

God is the engineer of some adversity in our lives.

2 Corinthians 12:7-8

- the only thing that we can boast is the saving grace of Jesus Christ
