A Hearts Desire
Theme: Leadership, Surrender, Wisdom & Knowledge
Scripture: 2 Chr 1: 10-12 - Give me wisdom and knowledge, that I may lead this people, for who is able to govern this great people of yours? God said to Solomon, "Since this is your heart's desire and you have not asked for wealth, possessions or honour, nor for the death of your enemies, and since you have not asked for a long life but for wisdom and knowledge to govern my people over whom I have made you king, therefore wisdom and knowledge will be given to you. And I will also give you wealth, possessions and honour, such as no king who was before you ever had and none after you will have."
Observation: Solomon knew he was unable to lead this group of people without God's help, so the cry of his heart was for wisdom and knowledge to be able to lead well. God was so impressed with Solomon's love for God's people that he also granted him wealth, possessions and honour. God knew that a heart that cries out after Him is a heart that be trusted with material blessing!
Application: No matter what it is that we lead, no matter what God has entrusted us to govern on His behalf we will not be able to do it without God's wisdom and knowledge. We think that in order to lead and govern well we must achieve for ourselves and the team a sense of status in wealth, possession and honour. The trouble is, without God's input of wisdom and knowledge on how to govern well, those apparent blessing become a source of pride, stress and ultimately failure. No matter what I am entrusted with to lead I will only be effective if God is leading me every step of the way by His wisdom, knowledge and power!
Prayer: Father help me to always seek after you in every activity I am entrusted with to lead. Whether it be in leading my family, work associates or ministry unto you. Keep my heart always soft to learn from you and may you always have right of way in my life!
