Trapped

Have you ever felt trapped between your circumstances and your own limitations? The Israelites are trapped here as they approach the Red Sea with the Egyptian army pursuing them. Earlier in this chapter they recognize they're facing a sure death and they’re not happy about it. God was with them and he instructed Moses how to escape the Egyptians and Moses obeyed. God's rescue not only allowed them to cross the sea but he also defeated their enemy. Whether we realize it or not we are all in this situation--trapped between sin and our own fallen nature, unable to save ourselves. In the face of our dilemma God sends his son Jesus, which is what we're celebrating during this Advent season. Being both divine and human he is able to overcome what we cannot--he's able to defeat sin and he makes a way for us to participate in his victory. Do you see yourself in this picture? What is your uncross-able sea? Ask for God's help and let yourself be amazed at how he makes a way for you to pass through it.
