Abiding in Love
How do we abide in the love of Christ? We keep his commandments, and by so doing this we keep the commandments of God and also abide in his love as well.
We, sadly, have bought into a lie that says in order to keep the commandments of God we must suffer and sacrifice all the things that make us who we are. Nothing could be further from the truth. If you look at verse 11, you see the whole reason Jesus is telling us this is that his joy might be in us and our joy may be full.
I could use being full of joy. The kind of joy that no matter what circumstance I am facing, no matter what trial might come my way, no matter what storm seems to be brewing, I can rest and be at peace and be content, because I have Christ, and everything else is just... stuff.
