We prosper when we trust Him
How often have I looked to my abilities or contributions and advice of others and misplaced my trust in those things and not on the One where my trust should be? God gives us abilities and we should be there to help each other, but when our trust is stayed on these and not the giver of these that is when trouble comes. Verses 7&8 shows us what will happen when we trust Him and Psalm 1:2&3 shows us how to prove our trust in Him by delighting in His law and meditating day and night.
Verse 9 reminds us of our problem, which is our heart. It will deceive us as we allow our trust to be placed anywhere other than God even "good" things.
