Jesus was eager
Why is it that Jesus wanted to eat this Passover meal with them? Because he knew what the Passover meant, the memories it brought back, and what it invokes. Memories and the understanding that unless your house was marked with blood you were not spared death. Death comes to us all unless we have covered ourselves with the blood of Christ. Jesus wanted to tell then that we are not done defeating death brought into the world through sin. Why was he so eager? Because for thousands of years they remembered their door was marked and their sons were spared. Jesus wanted to remember a day that THE SON was given and all the people were spared.
