Easily dejected = an easy target
Having to be "right" or "accepted" at all costs makes it easy for the Devil to use us as tools of destruction.
Our value isn't determined by our ability to control others' views of us. Insisting they accept our behavior or tell us we're right is an attempt to be controlling; as is preserving a false "reality" in which all our actions are wise or justifiable.
Anyone as insecure and controlling as Cain is in just as much danger of committing murder. Being overcome by violence may not manifest in physical form, but internally through jealousy, bitterness, resentment, hatred, anger, argumentativeness, etc.
Sin easily overtakes the ardently insecure; would we rather kill the reminders--our "Abels"-- that our false-realities and false-selves are wrong than face up to the truth, be healed of our hurts and pride, and set free to live the life God has planned for us?
