Scripture: Proverbs 18:24 MSG Friends come and friends go, but a true friend sticks by you like family.

Observation: This is one of my favorite Proverbs, one that I think we all can appreciate. And it’s short and sweet: friends come and go, but a true friend is like family.

Application: How many friends do you have? When I was younger, I wanted lots of friends. Having a “posse” back then meant you were popular. You were going places! But I later realized they weren’t friends at all. Many of them fell off my radar as soon as high school was over, and only a few are still part of my life today. I can count my friends on one hand! Friends I can call on when I’m in need, or when I just need someone to talk to. And they can call on me too!

Prayer: Father I thank You for my true friends. Thank You for sending people into my life to be there when I need them, not just when they need me. Thank you for your sons and daughters who have filled my life with goodness, each one bringing a lesson to learn. Please continue to bring them to me, Lord. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
