In America, we don't often realize how much in abundance we live compared to the rest of the world. The problem is that we feel the pressure to live up to the standards of the community around us or we feel the pressure of not having enough. So how do I know if I'm living in generosity or greed?
Luke 12:13Greed isn't easy to recognize
- vs.16,17- Often we work hard and in response, great things happen but did we cause the good reaction by our hard work? This man worked hard but he didn't cause the crop to grow. Although he assumed it was his and so he was looking for what to do with hisstuff.
vs.19- He assumes he has all this stuff for himself and this must mean he has a long life to enjoy it and now his life will be better.
vs.20- This is foolery! All of the things we store up here don't last longer than the time we have on this earth. So we need to be wise in our investments. Are we making earthly profits or eternal benefits? Instead of being rich towards ourselves, we ought to be rich towards God!
vs.29- God knows your needs and will provide in that area. We just need to seek Him and wait for Him to give as we need. Ultimately we inherit the Kingdom of God! So worrying for our needs is pointless.
So how do I take care of my possessions now?
Do I think *what should I do with my money?*or am I thinking *Lord, what should I do with your gifts to me?*
2Corinthians 8:1-14
Giving isn't circumstantial, it's an act of spiritual convictions.
