Forgiven
It is so easy to look at other sinners and judge them because of their sin. Yet these verses tell us something different. They tell us to forgive them. How can that be? Later on in Matthew 18 it tells us we are to go to a brother that has sinned against us and confront them on it.
The answer is simple. Matthew 18 does not give us permission to judge. It simply gives us authority to point out a sin so that the person may repent. Once we point out the sin and they repent we are to forgive. So as these verses say, the key to us being forgiven is us being willing to forgive.
